Sleeper Book is now expoloding - 1st Appearance Dylan Brock14978

The first full appearance of Dylan Brock in Venom #9 from the Cates series had dropped significantly following the King in Black series and the announcement that Venom would end at issue 200 (legacy issue). 9.6 copies could be had at $50-70. With the current Venom 200 release yesterday and it's $9.99 cover price, we discovered that Dylan will now be bonding with Eddie Brock's symbiote and be the new Venom! Now try and find a 9.6 copy of Venom #9 for under $150! I love this industry. Things can change on a dime! Just my two cents...Nuff said.

I feel justified hanging onto my Venom 7 and 9 9.8’s
I’ll be on the lookout for getting that entire run in an omnibus. I started at #1 but dropped off around issue 22.

Comics are funny thing sometimes....a few years back during the christmas exchange I chose a few books for someone and sent them amazing spiderman 375 and the Dealers limited 1/10 Venom 9...nothing like throwing strikes in retrospect!

@Doc_Cop When I first started on the forum people were discussion just giving away boxes of dreck to make space. I was seriously thinking about doing the same. Then I thought I might as well hold onto them since I've stored them this long. Sure enough, I go out to the garage every couple months and pick one or two cherries that it seemed were never going to ripen.

I have a buddy who is a venom fan.
I gladly gave him Venom 3 and 9

I figured he would want Knull and Dylan and I am glad I did.

Nice to see these books picking up so much

Serious question about long term value. If comparing these issues to similar ones in the past are 7 and 9 simply ASM 344 & 345? Making 35/200 the same as 361?

I know that it might be apples vs oranges comparing Cletus to Dylan but if he does end up having legs I wonder if Venom 35 will actually end up being the bigger book.

I see Dylan Brock as the Miles Morales of Venom. Newer younger version of an old character with slight differences. Reading through the Venom series it was made pretty clear Dylan was more than just a surprise son to be saved, considering the bizarre interaction he had with the Sleeper Symbiote.
He has staying power and cinematic potential with young adult audiences.

Why couldn’t they just let Dylan have the sleeper symbiote?

I really wish there was a spoiler alert attached to this thread title. I read 34 issues of this and the story ends for me by clicking here. It’s no ones fault but my own but YAY! I guess it’s true, “it doesn’t pay to read the books”.

I don't think with the print run #35 is pulling it'll be the bigger book long term. There are certain covers that may be scarcer, but it's going to have a monster print run overall.

I picked up 3 covers of #35/200 as I believe it will grow in value if Dylan does well as the new Venom. I lost interest in this series with cult of carnage, the absurd absolute carnage crossovers and king in black has no appeal to me.

So I started this thread last Friday when the lowest buy it now for a graded 9.6 was $150.00. The lowest buy it now price for a graded 9.6 is currently $199.00 three days later! Seems the people have spoken! I'm very optimistic about Dylan Brock taking the reigns.

With Dylan and Eddie I got to thinking: Are there any A or B list characters in Marvel that don't have a knock-off supplemental counterpart?
Counterpart being a relative/friend, or a different color, or different gender, or a different costume?

There must be at least 1 but I can't think of any.

Azrael is a good one (I think)
Rhodey - hmmm.... not sure. But there's the costume. Gray vs. traditional yellow/gold & red.

Doctor Strange just came to mind. Ever been a knock-off of Doctor Strange? Son? Daughter? Dad? A purple Doctor Strange? A Yellow Dr. Strange? Dylan Strange maybe?
