Ah Ned Beatty, I was thinking of Warren Beatty, but that Deliverance image straightened me out.
I will memorialize him with a Jeff Foxworthy joke from around the time of the Atlanta Olympics:
"Did you know they're gonna have the Olympic Crew Rowing races on the same river where they filmed Deliverance? Considering what happened to Ned Beatty on that river, how do you figure a bunch of French Guys in bicycle shorts are going to fare?"

He never liked discussing that scene from "Deliverance." I think it was pretty traumatic for him.

A fine character actor. RIP.

From IMDb:
According to Deliverance director John Boorman, Stanley Kubrick wanted to cast Bill McKinney in the role of Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket. However, Kubrick was so unsettled after viewing McKinney's performance in Deliverance that he declined to meet with him, saying he was simply too frightened at the idea of being in McKinney's presence.

How on earth is it OK to have a thread with jpgs from a movie showing the scene in which a rape occurring?

In this particular thread, it is the scene which some of us associate with Ned Beatty, the deceased. IMO, his best work was in that movie.

In general, just like a comic book cover depicting murder, drinking, shooting, stabbing, etc., I trust that members of our forum are adult enough to separate reality from fiction. Both mediums are forms of art.

As I stated in the PM, you’ve now made jpgs of Jodie Foster’s scene in The Accused fair to post. She won an Oscar for the role.

Good to know the rules of the forum. Thank you for clarifying what they are. I find the idea strange. However, you are the voice of CBCS/Beckett in this playground. What you rule are what we follow.

You DO realize that no one is actually raped in either movie, don't you? As far as pictures go, I'm using the same guidelines as comic book covers. There is no nudity or pornography in this picture. We allow bondage, torture, murder ... any number of assorted things on covers of comics. Movies and comic books are both art forms. In this scene, he was not actually raped. He was acting. I seriously doubt that Jodie Foster was actually raped for "The Accused". On comic book covers, no one is actually tortured, stabbed or killed. These are all fictitious works of art. I'm sorry if you get triggered by it.

The scene from Deliverance has been a part of Americana for a long time. So much so that the Jeff Foxworthy joke I quoted above assumed the audience would automatically get the reference. The image posted from the scene only depicts violence. If that were not allowed, the logic could extend to any scenes right before or after "the scene". It could quite justifiably extend to any referencing of the movie at all. Certainly the joke I quoted would be inappropriate under that logic.

You do realize that I'm a retired LEO, right? You might not realize it but I used to be assigned to work these types of crimes, right? You don't know it but a member of my family was raped. So, it doesn't matter to me that it was on film and it wasn't "real". In my world, the reality was in my face for years on the job and it is still being dealt with by a member of my family and the crime took place almost 16 years ago.

You are the voice of CBCS and Beckett. So, if you don't have an issue with it then those companies don't either. Again, I find it strange but you have your pulse on those companies and what they want on their website. Again, thanks for letting us know what the rules are on the forum.

Just to be absolutely clear, rape is a horrendous crime!! Nonconsentual sex is NEVER ok!! I'm trusting that the members here can separate fiction from fact.
