I don't think I've posted this one yet; it's next to impossible to check without a better search function.

Thanks! There are more than a few super hero covers that would fit in nicely with your theme.

I do have a few that I couldn't resist. Here's one of my favorites.

That is very cool! Boy, those side kicks kept the heroes as busy as the damsels.

At least they weren't always falling down when running away like the damsels. Or rising up out of a swamp...

Even though this one isn't pre-code, it's still pretty cool.

Not to sound like an idiot but - What is pre-code? Am I to assume it means, before approved comics code seal? What year is that? I'm sure I have a bunch of books from that era....

The code started in 1955 so the poor little children wouldn't be exposed to such wonderful stories with amazing art. I bet just as many adults as children were reading those back then and the sheer numbers of comics sold per population was astounding.

@retrocomics But to answer Kaptainmyke more accurately, ( because Action 1 is obviously precode too) would you say it more refers to 'unrestrained' crime/horror/ GGA (some hero ones too)books circa 46-55?

Sagii I would say that it is just grouped by horror/crime/mystery books from 1950-1954 mostly. The boundaries in those books were pushed way beyond the very conservative values at the time. The senate hearings brought the code on to establish what is acceptable to be printed after that. Not to say some books pre 1950 don't contain some of the most lurid covers and stories but collectors of pre code, I believe, consider this the era.

Have you checked out the Cole thread yet? There's a bunch of cool pre-code Cole covers there. I may be a bit bias in my assessment.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as pre-code, but it's a great cover.
