Right now, it's a 3-way race between two packages from the UK and this one. In any case, my anticipation level is high for all three to get here. The longer the wait, the sweeter the reward right?

The day I bought my Strange Tales #110 I was 65% sure I was going to be going through divorce proceedings soon thereafter

If you just bought $1 comics then gamble in media mail,

If you bought comics worth $30- $100 plus each, why in the world would you pay that money on comics then skimp on the shipping costs.

If a seller is charging shipping then ships cheaper by using media mail
That's one seller to avoid.

Scout Comics (the publisher) charged me $12 to ship four books. Sent me a tracking number with the 9449 header. I was not happy about giving them an extra $8 for media rate.

Over 15 to 20 years ago I was buying books when I was living in Australia.

I bought off metropolis collectibles and heritage auctions.

These two businesses always charged me the exact shipping costs.

And why not, they are in business to make money selling comics not in the business to make money in shipping.

I won a couple of books off comic link.
Their foreign shipping was 1-3 books $75 shipping cost.
No matter where overseas they were shipping too.

$75 was quite rich all those years ago when the most shipping cost from the other two was between $17- $27

So while I was in Australia I spent thousands buying books over the years thru metro and heritage.

And avoided comic link.

Classic example of charging exact shipping for return business.

Charge and make money on shipping for profit today and no return sales tomorrow.

@Mrbryceman congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! I'm sure she is understanding (to a degree) of your hobby, much like my girlfriend is.

I agree but I think that's rarely the case. I've never even covered my total costs with shipping and supplies...I typically subsidize it by a oouple of bucks either in shipping materials or charging too little for shipping. The few times I've used media mail it was with lower dollar books to offer the customer a lower shipping price and make shipping a smaller percentage of the total cost. Never offered media mail option with slabs though.

I've used Media Mail for my Hardcovers. No ads - I'm reasonably sure they qualify as a "book".
They're usually quite heavy such as the Dark Horse Creepy collected volumes, so Media Mail (as I understand it) is acceptable and a cheap / safe alternative.

Never used Media Mail for comics.
