An Evolution of the CBCS Label and Holder.14860

I've spent years perfecting my brand of assholery. DrWatson private msg quote post Address this user
This is the first holder and label brought to market. The top and bottom brackets are alternately labeled CBCS.

Then this one is next with the security watermark band to the left of the logo. There seems to be a slight font/label change. Also, both brackets on the top and bottom are now stamped CBCS.

This one was followed by another slight font change.

The Rivets label. That's all that needs to be said about that one.

This one quickly followed.

Then the heat seal was added through the label.

Then we got the redesigned holder. There are no more brackets. The holder is welded all the way around with vent holes in the bottom.

Makes me wonder where the company would be today if they had stuck with the first label. Or the second label. I'm guessing they would be in the exact same place they are today. I just don't see label redesigns as game changers.
I'm thinking I may have just kicked off round one of the Friday Night Forum Fights.

@DrWatson My favorite part:

The Rivets label. That's all that needs to be said about that one.

I actually liked the rivets label, but so long as info gets put there and it’s legible, i don’t mind any of them.

I would have to say that the second label was my favorite. I like the way that it appears backlit. The Rivets is the only one that I specifically do not like (I have a couple of them) but it wouldn't be a deterrent for me.

I really like the current labels best. The 1st and 2nd labels are good too but the position of the numerical grade in relation to the CBCS logo on the right seems off-kilter....the current label grade and logo are balanced.

the only good thing on the rivets label is the foil part of the cbcs logo. the font, colour and everything else is.....not good.

I don’t like features that serve no purpose on labels. What is the meaning behind the rivets? Am I supposing to think the case is more secure than one without? That would be lame.

Glad they switched it up. That was before my slabbing days....so was there a lot of backlash and they quickly switched gears that year?

And looking back I think I need to reholder my UF4...amongst a few others...

@Drogio I believe it was intended to by symbolic of Strength and Security. Honestly I've been involved in enough design concept meetings where I can understand that it could come with a compelling and persuasive pitch. Probably sounded good conceptually, it just didn't work visually. It came off as silly and contrived.

The first three labels had more balance. The current label is heavy on the left with the CBCS logo on the right being, well, forgettable.

I liked the older logos and i also likes the rivet shield. Not a huge fun of the current label or logo. By the case is what matters most.

Custom labels would be cool to see.

I thought about this thread recently and asked the moderators to un-archive it so I could update it with the new label.

That said, without further ado... the newest CBCS label:

OK, sounds good...I've updated the post.

@DrWatson This was a really good idea. I still think it should be pinned/stickied.

That label was actually produced, but was not in hand when the first press release went out, so this image was a mock-up used for the first press-release.

The reaction we received on that label was not favorable, so there was a complete redesign overnight before we ever even received this label from the printer. Aside from a couple of sheets, all of them were trashed upon receipt. Only one of them was actually put into a case for us to see internally. That slab is somewhere in my personal collection.

This thread is a good archive.

I'll add another little-known tidbit. You're aware of the first and second generation CBCS slabs.
Did you know there was yet another unique CBCS slab that was created and discarded BEFORE the G1 slab?
It's actually tied to the logo on the label in the quoted label above.
The CBCS logo was engraved into the actual slab.
