I had a 9.6 CGC book CBCS pressed and graded that came back 9.8. No doubt that it would have come back 9.6 without a press.

In my personal opinion; CBCS grading is a bit more strict. I’d be ok with a .5 drop on a high or mid grade if that means it is accurately graded.

To answer your 2.0 question. I think coming back 2.5 would be dependent on being pressable. Otherwise it would stay the same

Any books that I have that are already slabbed are staying there.

My first submission included a CGC slab. Had the dreaded green label (that was on me, sent in a signed book) and I sent in for VSP and included a press and the grade stayed the same but was verified.

@HulkSmash - 2nd that! But past history dictates that I would have @SteveRickets / CBCS press to get it up to snuff.

I wouldn't. I think they're pretty even and both do a solid job, but I think because CGC puts more books out the questionable grades (of which I've had a few) are more noticeable just due to volume.

CGC seems strangely strict lately though, possibly too much. I sent in 3 perfect ASM 316s, and they all came back 9.6. THey are nicer than my current 9.8s... :/

@mediaslave - I firmly believe and have seen with my own eyes that a much higher percentage of cgc slabs are overgraded. But I have opined on that in other threads so not going to say anymore on it in this one.

Cheers.

Here’s a reverse example CBCS to CGC see before and after pics. The CPR included a quick press.
