The main downside about having third parties ship on your behalf is that your name is not on the CBCS invoice so you have to get all the order progress updates from the person that submitted them.

also some LCS(local comics store) or third parties charge a small fee for the service. My LCS charges a small fee to ship to grading companies.

I definitely prefer to be in control of the whole process myself. I submit from the uk and find the submission form and process really easy with CBCS. Like stated you can then track the process yourself and drive yourself mad checking the dashboard status . |

I've submitted through an LCS and through Trinity Comics on the forum for a signing at NYCC. It was fine both times but I prefer to be do direct submission. It's easier for me to track the process.

When I started slabbing, I specifically chose CBCS in part because I could submit without a membership or using a third party. It's easy and takes a level of potential mistakes out of the process.

If it's your first time I say take the path of least resistance. Just use the service of local LCS the first time while you learn the ropes. Especially if you have a more hesitant personality...by doing it yourself you will probably run into several situations that will cause you to delay over and over again. It could take you a month to do what you could accomplish in 30 minutes at the LCS.

Or you can do what I do, when at a convention just drop them off to them. Saves having a third party. This way you don't have to ship so they are safely in their hands. Then you just wait for them to get around to grading them and shipping them back to you |

I agree with southerncross. Dropping your books off at the conventions may be the best way. This way you don't have to worry about packing your books securely and then worrying about the books getting lost in the mail. You will also save on the shipping costs and you can be sure that the grading companies have received the right books too. |
