Well, I wasn't going to sell this but there's a couple Batman grails that popped up that I'd like to snag and selling this is the only way I'm going to get them. I know the price seems crazy but it's the going rate and still a few hundred less than any of the same on eBay. Asking $2,500, free shipping. Any questions, just let me know. Thanks!![]() ![]() |

Absolutely smoke'n looking book! Good luck on the sale dude! Question - Is there any difference in the books with the open vs. lined bar code for this particular book? |

Sorry, I shoulda been more clear. I know the difference, but in this case, is there really any difference to desirability? |

I don't think so. I suppose you could argue the direct version is rarer than the newsstand, given that in 1980 something like 80 or 85% of comics were still sold through newsstands. |

My opinion is the late 70s and early 80s there are more newstand to direct. By 1982 I think it was moving to 50/50 1984 to 1987 it was more direct editions to newstand. And the newstand numbers continues to decrease in numbers printed and saved up to newstands were discontinued |

Quote:Originally Posted by southerncross I think the reasoning behind newsstands going for more money is that they are harder to find in NM than the direct editions. In comic shops the direct editions were handled with care and sold to collector's, the newsstands were handled and roughed up more on those spinner racks and 7-Eleven type convenience stores. |

Was at my lcs last week and in a 30 minute window two separate people walked in asking if the shop owner had a x-men 129 So there is demand for this issue |

It is against forum selling rules for a seller to request PayPal friends as a form of payment. I didn't pursue a deal here on the boards because a seller requested PayPal FF up front.

Just saw this thread. Good luck on the sale. Did not know about the recent prices. Wow. I know it has a lot of 1st appearances but is there something happening with any of them that I am missing? (ie movie news?)

@waynemel A combination of both. It's a classic storyline with key first appearances, including a fan favorite, along with a lot of folks being excited for X-Men to enter the MCU at some point in the next few years, so prices have started to skyrocket.

Its also a book that is right at forty years old ...aside from introducing two key players in the x men storyline. So many comics that are selling nowdays are random speculation but this book has perhaps been underpriced for a while already...Key villians that appear in a movie nowdays gain much more traction but since February Jones appeared as the character before Disney it did not seem to push the book up as much....it may be only now seeing its true worth. Far rather have a nice copy of this book than some of the others that have ripped into orbit recently !!! |
