I spend a little too much time on facebook and here are the biggest complaints that I have read about cbcs:

1. Customer service. Customers having trouble getting a hold of someone in the states and getting the information they need in a timely fashion. Especially if something goes wrong. I have read and seen several horror stories.

2. Labels. Labels are too plain. I tend to agree with this criticism as I feel the labels need more pop. Maybe enhance the grade and the top sticker. Presentation of our books is very important to many collectors.

3. Slabs for Magazines. (already being handled)

4. Turn around times. These are much better now but there is always room for improvement. Improved tracking process would help too. Lately, I have been hearing that cbcs would face the same issues that cgc is facing right now if they get a large increase in business. I would hope cbcs would have the foresight to prepare for an increase in business and hire the correct people.

5. After market value. This one is completely out of your control but the general perception is cgc books sell for more. Also, some collectors like to have a uniformed collection and only buy cgc because they were first. I believe as more cbcs books get out there, this might persuade more collectors to consider both.

I strongly believe that a couple improvements will go a long way especially now. Many are considering using cbcs so now is the time to pounce. Emphasize what cbcs does better than the competition (signature verification, graders notes, consistent grading, etc). Continue to promote cbcs and continue to interact with your customers. It helps to build trust and loyalty.

I know huh? When I'm submitting books I'm sitting at a computer that's connected to a printer, and a stack of comic books on my desk. I have several tabs open as I'm using Ebay to check publication dates and MCS/GPA to sometimes check values. It's not like some cellphone app would have me spontaneously submitting from the freeway.

An app would be nice even if strictly for dashboard and submitting, but I have no issues with the mobile site.

@Comicninja0215 - FYI in case you didn't know - I am assuming that your computer at work (as well as other employees) are connected to a server. Keep this in mind,... the server keeps a log file (with your username at work) of everywhere you go on the internet. Whether it's here at CBCS, YT, FB, IG, etc.... the time/date/length of time/web searches/videos you watch/blah blah blah... are recorded in the server's log file with your username.

Obviously I have no idea how lenient your company is about internet play, but if you are going to continue to abuse your computer at work, make sure your production is up to par.

I tend to side with @EbayMafia on the status updates issue. I only need to know that my submission was received.

In light of CBCS’s long standing issues with poor customer service, the last place CBCS needs to be wasting resources is answering countless calls and emails asking “where’s my books”

I also don’t have any problems with the label and I love the new slabs.

Aside from the long standing customer service issues.............

The lack of an established REGISTRY is what keeps CBCS playing 2nd fiddle to CGC imho

Great Thread Steve

@KatKomics & @GAC yes, yes, rhat was one of my would like to see

“10- Photo of internal signature. This I would pay for. Perhaps displayed on the back of label but at the very least, part of the qr code lookup.”.

I recall a few months back someone else (possibly one of you) brought it up and it was an instant hit for me

Definitely seems it would be an easy sale, to charge for imaging of internal signatures and have it available when you scan the code. They already offer imaging, so it probably wouldn't be a big stretch to image it once the signature is verified. If offered, I wonder how big the market would be for imaging and re-holdering of internal signatures...probably pretty decent sized.

Can they track me then?

Maybe you should present this question to your company's IT dept.

Seriously though, I left IT back in 2005 (after 20 years), and I never looked back. You have no idea how burned out I became, but I did remain semi-literate in the field while working other trades.

Back to your question... when I left IT, VPN had been around probably 5-6 years.
* Then - I would say VPN users were probably safe from being tracked.
* Today - Nothing is sacred on the internet.

Anyway, let's not OT this thread. This thread was created to better our business/personal relationship with CBCS.

If someone wants to create an Off Topic IT thread, I think that would be really cool.

It is also extremely strange that Slab-Only is exclusively for verified signature books. If the Slab-only option could be used for unsigned, witnessed, and verified books then you could simplify things by removing a redundant option.

Totally agree with this. I'd really love a S.O. blue label option for skipping having certain books graded.

Also I agree with whoever said to remove the perforations on the label. Hire someone who's only job is to go over the edges with a paper cutter if you have to =D

And the VSP pricing on the submission portal still needs to be fixed. It jumps up to $45 when you add in the name of the signer you want verified.

Other than those, I'm a happy camper. Love the new slabs, turn around times are reasonable, friendly customer service. And I'm happy to hear mag sizes are on the way.

Had a quick thought.

I was thinking of maybe adding something on graders notes.

Like indicating a book has been pressed or even adding a recommendation to press a book if it hadn’t been.

I’m just thinking if I bought a slab off someone, pull up the notes and see it’s an 8.5 and has a recommended pressing note, I’ll have an idea I might be able to reholder and, potentially, see a higher grade.

Or per first suggestion, I’ll know the book is probably at max condition that it’s capable of reaching.

Thanks, Steve!
