Wisdom on Selling Most of My Collection14691

| I recently promised my wife to cut my physical comic collection down to one graded box of comics (about 25 personal keys of which I have about 10-12) and one run I want to complete (short run about 90% done). That equates to three and a half graded boxes comics and 4 long and 2 short boxes of comics to sell (mostly modern). My two jobs do not provide me much time to put in the work necessary to sell all of them on eBay. What companies would you recommend to sell on your behalf? I considered trading everything to get a couple of books on my one graded box list, but not sure if that is the best method. What are your thoughts? |

| I've used ComicLink in the past and have been pleased with the results. I've also sold a few books right here on the CBCS forum. EDIT: My ComicLink sales have usually been high grade Silver Age and Bronze Age books. I have not sold moderns on ComicLink. EDIT #2: I didn't read closely enough. I didn't understand that you were looking for a company to sell the whole chunk. So disregard my comments. |

| Two jobs? You need a different agent! I would find the time to sell the graded books yourself on EBay. They sell easily and boxing them for shipping is easy too. Only need to take 2 pictures per graded book. Life is too short to work all the time, man, I feel for you. |

| @Pre_Coder Funny you ask. The trade off will be less of a footprint in the house in exchange for putting more money into more expensive keys. Personally, I’m happy with the trade. I will focus more on the books that mean the most to me and save to pick them up. At least three on my list will not be so easy to obtain on my usual budget. | ||

| @EbayMafia What I have to sell would not amount to much apart from those looking to add to runs more than likely. The CBCS’s/CGC’s would not be too difficult to hoist list as $.99 sales, but many might not go for what I have in them (which is fine). My biggest question is how to sell raws. I’ve never try to sell raws other than TPBs. Do you recommend any particular boxing product? I will likely sell raws in lots. | ||

The more expensive books are high grade FF52, AC 252, UF 4 Variant (I was one day shy of pulling the trigger when they were just over $2k and the next day they disappeared and are the price of a used car), Sandman 8 Editorial, Walking Dead 1 (Black Label), Tick 1 Special Edition, and NYX 3. Most of these I look for highest graded, so they get a little pricey compared to my typical budget that goes into raw and online books. I doubt anyone would trade cheap moderns for such books, so I planned on selling what I have and then reinvesting. The others on my list are $1,500 or less. Thanks for asking! | ||

| It sounds like the sticking point will be your raws, which it sounds like are normal run-filler stuff? I'd say you have three options there: 1) post them here in lots for sale. Then, when/if they don't sell, you have two options. 2) eBay, again in lots. 3) mycomicshop auctions, use the multi-item lot option https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics/recordother_lot . Trade-offs: my experience with modern, raw, run-filler type books here on the forum is that there's little interest. But if you happen to find someone you can make a deal easily and just pay the PayPal fee. eBay: you have to do all the pictures, listing, shipping, etc. Then you pay the fees. If you haven't sold on eBay before it could be quite a hassle getting started. The pro would be that you get a big market and even random books will sell if you give it enough time. MCS: you still have to ship but then MCS will do the pictures and listing. Multi-comic lots have a high commission and MCS very often undergrades (gives a low grade to) raw books, so you won't make as much as you might on the forum or eBay. But the auctions are pretty well-attended and they're guaranteed to sell, so you'll get money quickly at least. If you decide to send the raws to MCS, I would consider sending your slabs as well. The audience is smaller than eBay but the auctions have been pulling high prices, and then you could just send all your stuff to one place instead of piecing it out. |

| I have been selling my ungradeable raws on eBay because there have been no comic shows, but a simple way is to find a Saturday show (they are reappearing) and take your raws. One of the other guys who have a table will likely buy your unsold stock at the end of the show, if you let it be known you want to sell out. |
