It's kind of blowing my mind that you posted that just now. Earlier today while debating who uses which company and what the motivations are...I got the image of the Apple Computer 1984 commercial in my head. Some were arguing that it's all about better labels and I was trying to convey that it's much more deeply rooted than that. And here you are with an image of Winston Smith screaming his allegiance to big brother. @sborock and his little crew are like the Resistance vs. The Collective. They're Picard and Enterprise vs. The Borg.

It’s strange how much talk of the CGC forum and CGC as a whole is mentioned on this site.

There would be more CBCS talk on the CGC site but it's not allowed. That says a lot about the CGC site.

There are far more veteran collectors over there and some great dealers. I've learned a TON over the years from that forum. But the secret mod thing still kinda creeps me out. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, there are a handful of forum members who have been secret mods for years. Basically company shills. Wonderful boardies, nice people volunteering their time, but the lack of integrity it takes to do that in secret lowers my respect for them. How can you expect to get an honest answer regarding CGC, or the benefits of CBCS, when they're essentially working for CGC? (But not telling you).

The CGC site has company shills. The CBCS site has the CBCS President. That's the two forums in a nutshell.

Cgc the empire
Cbcs the rebel alliance

I like competition. Keeps everyone on their toes and combats routine, going thru the motions.

Lol so fans of cgc on their forum defend the company? Kind of like fans of cbcs defend cbcs?

Crazy man.

With CBCS since the beginning, 2014!

I don't care for the VS talk, it's kind of silly to be honest. We all like comics.

However, that whole character label nonsense is for new collectors. Let em' have it. CBCS knows the book is the most important part to encapsulation.

If collectors feel CBCS's labels are boring, then I guess I'm boring too lol. At least the info, most times, is correct and actually has more info about the book. I love stuff like that.

Know nothing of the CGC forum. Never gone. But the CBCS forum has no females - not a one!

(sorry, don't mean to beat a dead horse and can't imagine it's true but hoping the definitive statement/'red flag' will inspire one to charge and prove me wrong)

I hope this is also an impression of the CGC forums, because it and the related thread are creepy as hell.

Agreed. If I was a female, I'd hide that fact as much as I could just to avoid comments like his. Not like nerd-centric activities have a solid history of being welcoming and not creepy or something.

lol awesome! xkonk you sure look, and sound like a women, cool. That you in cosplay? very cool. haven't done that yet - thinking I wanna go as Bullseye. As I shave my head - play it up. So 'creepy' - okay, you sound really woke - that's not usually too much fun. But it's a forum so... I'm just getting back into comics but mainly just to sell my collection. Might try the DD series where I hear he gets killed. Did last enjoy the 'scalped' series. Anyway nice the 'creepy' red flag brought out a woman. And you been here the whole time recognize the avatar. Awesome.

EbayMafia I hear ya-haha! love your way of burning me - always get a smile! Irish. And no worries - I'm only being half serious and having fun. Learning a lot on here too. Serious. Was thinking the forum would be how I'd imagine cosplay at conventions but maybe - a lot are uptight there too. Whatever. And I can read yours two ways - one is - the Hulk goes to Spring Break and the other is - Thor is now Natalie Portman. Later EbayMafia!

Okay, I should stop. But just for keeping it real. I posted the same 'creepy' thing on CGC. Though I didn't know about xkonk - when I did. Just kidding xknok - I'm sure your a guy. But calling another man creepy is odd. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just saying. And does EbayMafia mean - he is part of the gang or that Ebay is just a group of criminals - thinking the latter. But I'm still learning - came in here like a babe in the woods just looking...

I posted a thread over there thanking everyone for their hospitality and that I was happy to be there and all I got was " mhhhmmmmmm, sure do like them French fried taters". On a serious note , I posted the same thing here and there was a lot love. Right then and there I knew i wasn't in the right place anymore.

I tend to agree on the versus things.

Their forums aren’t my thing, but they aren’t the devil. I’d use them for slabbing under some conditions and there’s really no reason to go all Sharks and Jets about it.

The only issue that I’m not a fan of on their boards isn’t unique to CGC. Lots of boards tend to let some personalities throw their weight around.

It’s like Jordan taking 5 steps and everyone else gets called for traveling at two steps-except none of those guys is Jordan.

As far as females, it’s the internet, there’s bound to be a “comic chicks in heat” site somewhere.

Because some collectors have been on the CGC boards since the stone age they often have little patience for newbies. I get it, if someone has been on the boards for 20 years they've heard the same newbie questions over and over, yet instead of politely answering (or simply ignoring them) they go out of their way to say something belittling in a failed attempt at humor.

It's never a good look and can drive people away from the hobby.

As opposed to Steve B on these boards welcoming people to the collecting world.

Different vibe for different folks.

I haven't read DD in a long time, but this sounds interesting. Which issues is this story? Is there a TPB?

Many misunderstand sex for love. Pretty sure Doc you're doing the same. I'm thinking a few guys on here are embarrassed to find they are playing around in here without a single woman in the mix. So you call me 'creepy' - okay? and I like my handle - it's funny, like Brut Reynolds wearing a funny hat. Some of you GUYS are so uptight relax we're talking comics - CGC is more uptight, yikes! Do they talk like me or something? And let's play nice with other grading companies - one day they may be grading ours.

Pretty sure some of y'all are projecting - and this isn't a dating site unless one is a gay man. You don't like talking with women? And that was not traveling!

I know from a friend, who sent me a screen shot of his activity on the cgc board, that if you want to know who the secret mods are you just react to posts. Then look go into your profile and look at your activity. It shows that you provided a reaction to a forum moderator. I'd have to find those PM's on my phone but I think that was at the end of last year when you could see that.

It explains why some posters over there never get posts removed when similar posts by other posters get removed quickly.
