Just a quick update on my order. I had 40 books submitted in 5 different categories of submissions: 2-day modern, quickstream, expanded fast pass, consumer fast pass, and modern fast pass. Here is the progression of events:

Delivered 5/28
Received 6/1
Processing 6/3
Grading 6/17
Production 6/23
Shipping 6/23
Shipped 6/24
Received 6/27 (per FedEx tracking)

so all in it will have been 30 days from delivery to return. Must say that I am quite pleased with the TAT, slightly disappointed on some of the grades (hoping to catch a break or two) but all in all a very good 1st CBCS submission experience.

So 28-32 weeks. Ugh.

As a point of reference, my submission (all moderns with pressing) received on 10/26/20 took 24 weeks to get return,

My books with them now (similar submission) are at 25 weeks and still “processing”.

It's only going up, I should've submitted in May, now it's too late to get them in time to sell before the new tax laws.

@flanders agreed but I'm not sure the 2022 reporting requirements should deter you. It will reduce online supply, but not necessarily demand. That could be good for selling prices. Also, let's assume your reported revenues are $10,000 in sales. You will probably be able to knock that down to about $2,000 in taxable profits by reporting expenses. Adding $2,000 to your taxable income probably isn't going to change your overall tax amount by all that much.

If you find some way to hold your comics inside an IRA, you don't have to worry about taxes at all!

One thing I've learned about dealing with leadtimes...once they get high enough you are better off over-stating them. When a lead time is stated at 16 weeks, it's kind of a big deal to actually take 17 weeks. So you are better off to say 18 weeks, because anybody who was going to submit at 16 weeks is still going to submit at 18 weeks. And when it comes back a week early you turn a negative into a positive.

I got word on Thursday that my first of seven orders had moved into production. I've got this hope in the back of my mind that I might be looking at grades by end of day tomorrow. But I'm trying to not get too carried away with it. Trying to keep it safely in the back of my mind. That crash could be huge if I let my emotions start getting carried away and the grades don't show up.

@EbayMafia Don't get your hopes up too high. I got my production e-mail two weeks ago and there has been no change to my dashboard or my invoice. Just an FYI so you can temper your expectations.

Strange, some get emails, I only got it was received and into pressing when my submission was received. I had to keep checking my invoice for status. Wonder how the system decides who get email updates.

I sent a bunch of Moderns in for press/grading in mid-April. They'll be going up for sale as soon as they get back. I'm hoping and praying I get them back in time for Christmas shoppers.

@EbayMafia Don't look at the grades online. It's so anticlimactic compared to opening the box blind.

I've gone and submitted an order again, against my better judgement. But luckily for CBCS they're the only ones with the verified signature program and I also wanted to use up my membership perks before they expired.

I see the turn around time is as long as ever. Lol. Ah well. I dropped my parcel off at the post office today, so we'll see how it goes.

I DID submit directly to Dallas this time, so hopefully that will make for a better experience than the fiasco that is the Canadian office.

I just got the "recieved/charged" emails. I don't think CBCS is doing themselves any favors with this line:
We will send you email updates as the order moves along through the process. At any time, you can check the status of your order at https://www.cbcscomics.com/account and log into your account. Once you are logged in on your dashboard you can view the status on any order by clicking on its link.

How much grief would the company save it they changed the message to:
There is no need for you to check on you order status from here. Your items are in the que and the status will not change until they reach the front of the que. We will update you when that occurs. Most submissions will not update status until the final few days of the process, as there is nothing to update.
