Maybe they don't get the CBCS volume to rate for a bigger discount? Or maybe CGC just offers deeper discounts for auction houses?

So let's say the CBCS discount on ComicLink was exactly the same as the CGC discount. How many more submission would that create per year for CBCS? I'm going to guess zero. Go big or go home.

The discounts were different because the pricing was different. The cgc was more expensive than CBCS, so the discount was smaller on the CBCS side. I'm not sure what it is now.

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
I know I read this somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

I have 10 books in grading right now and they are going to be for sale. Once I get them I am just going to send them off to MCS. I wanted to know how I would go about getting MCS to pick them up instead of them being shipped back to me.

Also if I can get them to pick them up will I be refunded on the shipping charges I already paid for?

Thanks

Yeah, the obvious point I wasn't going to make is that you're starting from a different price basis to begin with. So the idea that Comiclink customers are going to choose CBCS over CGC simply by matching something as subjective as the perceived discount kind of loses steam. My point is that if CBCS really wanted to pull any Comiclink sellers away from CGC, it would require a grand gesture, something like 60% off Walkthrough prices, not simply matching the discount.

What are the chances that pressable defects on a book come back between the time they're pressed and about 14 weeks later when they're slabbed and returned to the customer? I took a good look at a couple books I had graded recently and it looks like they were never pressed at all.

That hasn't been my experience. I've always used 2 specific private pressers so my books can sit for months or even years between pressing and grading. The grades typically will hit at-or-better than I'm led to expect by the presser. One thing I have experienced is that tiny flaws can become more visible after slabbing than they were before slabbing.

Serious question: Couldn't this statement

...plus the way the Deliverance meme was used open the door for someone to post a joke about rape? Jokes are fiction, and people should be able separate them from fact.

Granted rape isn't funny, but there are jokes for every topic, and unfortunately there are people who like to tell them, and they'd see any Moderation action as a double standard.

I personally found the meme distasteful in the context of someone's death, but the years have shown this to be used as humor more than anything else.

This is what was posted ...

It is part of a screenshot from the movie. It was posted in remembrance of Ned Beatty's superb acting in this scene. It is NOT a meme. If anyone wants to post a meme or joke about rape, go ahead and see how that works out for you.

Seemed more like it was posted as a follow up to the comment, "I will always remember him for "squeal like a pig!". I myself can't detect any admiration in the comment.

Maybe I'm too wound up about the topic in general, I don't know. I know two women who were raped in their teens, and I guess I have little tolerance for the topic in any form other than outrage.

It definitely triggers me more than an image of a PGX slab.

@Siggy just to clarify something to you and @Towmater, I also know rape victims. I've also helped one of them to get into therapy after seeing her have suicidal thoughts, tendencies and an attempt. I know all too well that rape survivors go through serious mental struggles for the rest of their lives. I'm stopping there because anything else I would say would just exasperate the conversation.

Question.

Can this book be graded in the current slab size. It just looks wider then the other golden age I've had graded.
Prefer not to drag this book along with me this Friday to drop off at the cbcs booth at the Washington con unnecessary.

@southerncross there is one, and only one, on the census, so I'd say yes. But here is the dimensions if you want to make sure.

What is the maximum size a comic book can be?
The maximum size is 7.625" x 10.5" and .24" thick.

In hindsight maybe the squeal image and my repeating a Jeff Foxworthy joke were not the most respectful ways to memorialize Ned Beatty shortly after his death. Could someone please mention another favorite Ned Beatty movie so I can alter the image in my head?
