not sure they are worth grading - kind of why I was going to sell them off.
1 is 100% fine
2 with 1 staple detached
1 BOTH staples detached

all 4 in the 7.5 to 8.5 range - which is only like $50/$60 bucks

never sold raw books at MCS but I'm putting together a batch of rejects (things I have 2 or more of) to see what I can get - guess I'll still send in 1 of the 1 staple issues for now to see how they grade it

I have a Secret Wars 8 (7/7.5) - might keep this one?? This is the one I had as a kid - my mom sent it to me at summer camp shocked it is in as good condition as it is as the whole cabin would have read it!, CapAmerica 323 (no idea on grade need to see what the presser did and if he could get rid of some sticker residue), Aliens #1 (7?), Godzilla #1 (7?), Bat#423 6.5 to 7?, ASM 363 in the 9s (9.4-9.6 if press fixes things), the SpecSpidey 27??, SW Heir #1 6.0?

Extras of Howard the Duck #1 and 12 (both 8s?) bunch of other stuff - gonna start looking to sell even non double books that I just don't need anymore
ASM 317 direct 9.6+? and news stand 9.4? - just stuff

Question, membership up for renewal and would like opinions of which I should get. I usually go for the bronze. Does anyone have any different opinions and why?
Thanks.

@KatKomics - Josh, I really need to do the same. Just be aware that MCS is a much harsher grader than CBCS or CGC regarding some defects. For example, I would expect about a VG/FN (5.0) from them for one detached CF staple, and about a G/VG (3.0) for both. I do not think they under-grade everything, but they are usually overly conservative with raw grades. That is why when you look at sold prices at their auctions, it is not uncommon to see a raw 8.0 book sell for more than a graded 8.0/9.0 copy of the same issue. Good luck!

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@Elvinv I always recommend the tier with the coupons you'll use. The discount is the same at any tier besides dealer, so that doesn't matter. If you're going to send some 2-day moderns, get bronze. If you have stuff for rapid tier, get silver. If you have some big books that qualify for 1-day, get gold. The membership price is supposed to add up to roughly what the coupons are worth, so I aim for that and then the discount is just gravy. On the other hand, if you just want the discount but don't care about the coupons, get bronze since it's cheapest.

@KatKomics In my experience it doesn't pay to send any 9.4-9.6 books to MCS. It's one thing when they put a 6.5 as a 5.5. It's another thing when they grade a 9.4 as 8.5. Hard to get that much difference in value from the buyers. I would only do it if it's the best option for that book.

The last I read about it, whatever Scarlett is doing is unrelated to Black Widow. Of course, they could just be keeping things quiet. Together or separately, I enjoy them both enough to see what they do next. Chris Evans is 40, so his 'getting into superhero shape' window is going to start closing soon.

Noting how his story arc ended is he coming back as a really old guy that no one remembers or as as a hero that isn't Captain America set in the 1960's or 1970's? He'd be 40 to 50 years old then which would match his age in the real world.

I saw a post somewhere suggesting that he step out of a portal in the multiverse and say 'flame on' to bring the ff into the mcu.I thought that would be a fun twist.

Thanks for the opinion. One question for the gold, it says 2for1 rapid but doesn’t say an amount. Does that mean 2for in Rapid for the life of the yearly membership?

I think it's true of a lot of the legends not named Stan Lee or Jack Kirby.

That's pretty crazy. I knew Bill Finger contributed to the creation of Batman....I just never knew how big his contribution was. It seems Finger created everything that we recognize about Batman except for the name....that's nuts!

I deleted my post because I didn't fully read your post when I answered.

Work for hire and getting paid for that work is ofcourse not stealing. But if you create something in a work for hire situation, I believe one is obligated to give credit even if that person is still paid work for hire rates. Credit should be given regardless of how compensation is executed.

A legendary success like Superman or Batman require so many inputs from many people over a long period of time. It's hard to know where credit for that success lies exactly. In my family it was always legend that my much older cousin created Madden football. After Madden died I researched it and found out that was not exactly true. He produced season 6 and oversaw the re-design. But that season 6 re-design is credited with making it the huge success that it is today. He gets mentioned in one sentence on the Wikipedia page. He didn't create Madden, but without his redesign most of us might never have heard of it. Who deserves credit? It's hard to say in collaborative efforts over generations of creators.

I think someone creating something and someone making an existing thing popular should be credited differently. Bill Finger was their at the beginning and dramatically changed what Bob Kane originally came up with. Even if Bill was hired as work for hire on the first story, I believe Bob was obligated to give Bill credit as co-creator. If we fast forward 30+ years, Neal Adams is credited for bringing Batman and Joker back to their more serious roots. He deserves credit for great story/art and elevating batman but certainly not a creation credit in any form I believe. Fast forward another 20 years or so to Frank Miller and it's the same thing and so on. I think there's a bunch of artists and writers that deserve credit for elevating batman.

Creation credit, I believe can be pretty easily established. But without all these future great artists and writers who knows if Batman would have endured....and for that, ofcourse they deserve credit.

I was thinking about how DC used fictional geography like Metropolis and Gotham while Marvel went for real geography...primarily New York. Was that bit of realism an important ingredient in the recipe that led Marvel to popularity over DC? Maybe it made Marvel more relatable? Just a thought.

Yes. Plus their stories weren't what ifs, hoaxes, dreams, or imaginary tales. There's nothing like getting Bobby Ewing'ed on a regular basis.

No, but I'm sure it has happened. Probably with a book submitted for SS, especially with the cgc.
