Related question: is it better to have a bad sense of humor or no sense of humor? For the Canadians: “is it better to have a bad sense of humour or no sense of humour?” |

Quote:Originally Posted by GAC As a Canadian that has spent the vast majority of my adult life in the U.S. and adapted to blend in, the language critique from Americans is amusing. It is called “English” not “Americanish” so I think the American adjustments are the ones more open to examination. British/Standard English had the U’s (though they choose not pronounce their R’s half the time). I suppose Americans dropped the U’s to save time - or to avoid conceding typos. “Oh, I meant to write it that way!” Or maybe an act of defiance/rebellion. Canadians then countered with their own act of defiance and decided to drop the pronunciation of the U in several words, opting for Aboot and Ooot. This is mere speculation from a former flappy-header. |

@KatKomics - Just a heads up, you can still get up to a 9.0 from CBCS with one staple of the centerfold detached.

This is the one I had as a kid - my mom sent it to me at summer camp shocked it is in as good condition as it is as the whole cabin would have read it!, CapAmerica 323 (no idea on grade need to see what the presser did and if he could get rid of some sticker residue), Aliens #1 (7?), Godzilla #1 (7?), Bat#423 6.5 to 7?, ASM 363 in the 9s (9.4-9.6 if press fixes things), the SpecSpidey 27??, SW Heir #1 6.0? Extras of Howard the Duck #1 and 12 (both 8s?) bunch of other stuff - gonna start looking to sell even non double books that I just don't need anymore ASM 317 direct 9.6+? and news stand 9.4? - just stuff |

@KatKomics - Josh, I really need to do the same. Just be aware that MCS is a much harsher grader than CBCS or CGC regarding some defects. For example, I would expect about a VG/FN (5.0) from them for one detached CF staple, and about a G/VG (3.0) for both. I do not think they under-grade everything, but they are usually overly conservative with raw grades. That is why when you look at sold prices at their auctions, it is not uncommon to see a raw 8.0 book sell for more than a graded 8.0/9.0 copy of the same issue. Good luck!

@Elvinv I always recommend the tier with the coupons you'll use. The discount is the same at any tier besides dealer, so that doesn't matter. If you're going to send some 2-day moderns, get bronze. If you have stuff for rapid tier, get silver. If you have some big books that qualify for 1-day, get gold. The membership price is supposed to add up to roughly what the coupons are worth, so I aim for that and then the discount is just gravy. On the other hand, if you just want the discount but don't care about the coupons, get bronze since it's cheapest.
