Interesting observation and spot on. My answer is, who knew they were so aerodynamic?

No. I'm not sure why that would be independently graded if it came out of another comic book.

Interesting. Looks like it was included in 16 different DC titles from November 1982.

Crazy..I would think it would be worthless as it was taken out of the comic it was attached to

Looks like I have at least 1 of the titles issues it was in

clickable text

MCS even has a 9.8 for slightly more and it's still in the book it's supposed to be in - pretty sure you could get raw NM for $30 or less of ebay

Does this mean I can remove the copy in DC Presents #26 of the 1st New Teen Titans and still get a 9.8 grade?? my copy is only graded 9.6 for the comic but I'm sure the insert is higher!!

Why is it that when one $$$ figure is presented is generates 10's of questions!!!???

Work is killing me and I'm only involved indirectly - the board asks the questions and then my boss and others ask me for details so they can craft answers!

Anyone have a suggestion on an infrared thermometer gun for cooking? I need it to read up to 900 degrees. (Pizza oven arrives tomorrow)

I've looked on Amazon and even the high rated ones are sprinkled with problems with battery and such. Was hoping someone could suggest something they had experience with.

Try the Etekcity 800. I am pretty sure we have one of these and it appears rated well above 1,000F. It gives accurate readings so long as used correctly.

Also, while I am sure there are bad Amazon reviews have a look at the distribution of scores and remember people will a) order used items on Amazon without knowing or disclosing b) misuse items and blame it through reviews and c) tend to write negative reviews over positive.

I am an Amazon “power user” (unfortunately) and you can usually spot heavy use of fake reviews (even without specific apps) by looking at number, distrib and timing of reviews.

My experience is that an Avg review of 4.5+, with enough datapoints and good skew -usually- equals adequate product.

On a related note, ThermoWorks thermometers are a revelation. Any serious chef or baker should consider one or more (finances allowing). Even their least expensive models are very accurate. We have 3 in our kitchen and use the least expensive (the ThermoPop) daily. We also have a remote unit for roasting things like rack of lamb but can also be used for bbq and smoking, and has a separate unit with alarm that you can carry around.

Yeah. I have a thermoworks smoke for smoking foods. Aside from occasionally losing connection fir a few seconds it works great. I wanted to upgrade to smoke x4 but finances are a bit tight....

@Bronte if you get the IR thermometer you likely already know but worth repeating… reflective surfaces will throw off readings.

What pizza oven did you get?

Question: does this make you feel better or worse about the “high” market prices for comic books today?

;-)

Thank you for reminder. I would imagine glass is a no go as well.

I got the ooni koda 16 I think. (It's the larger gas only oven.) My brother loves cooking so I figured I'd give him another toy to play with. It was on sale for black friday.

It really makes me wonder why precious metals such as Gold and Silver are actually down in value over the last 18 months. It's like everything is a hedge against inflation except the thing that is supposed to be the key historical hedge against inflation.

Kind of like grading tattoo inserts? Or 3D glasses inserts

Curiosity question...
If any of the books that had these inserts are graded without the insert in them, is it noted?
