I have to constantly remind myself to keep on eye on the shipping price. Not sure if it still occurs today, but ebay charges you based on the selling price of the item which does not include shipping. So in order to minimize fees some sellers post a discounted price but add an exorbitant amount for the shipping. Good for them, but ouch for anyone who isn't tracking the fee.

So of course one was current and got billed with the $15 shipping. I better change some shipping choices asap.

@NowGrade It does not go that way anymore. Probably more than 5 years ago Ebay started charging fees on everything, including sales tax and shipping.

Those were probably my comic books. In the winter I used to sit in front of the wood burning stove with a stack of comic books when I was kid. You keep that smell man! It's nostalgia.

Spider Woman 39 pg. 22.

@DrWatson DC Deathstroke was late 1980, that Spider-Woman issue was mid-81, New Mutants 98 was 10 years later.

I just heard today that Father Feige stated that there would be NO trailer released for No Way Home.

How many consignments do you need to have at MCS to have your own store/link to all listings?

This is my WTF moment for the month!!

For $5.25 and $2.00 for shipping, this etsy seller will send you 12 pages from comic books published from 1967 to 1972. These are complete comics that she is cutting up for crafts.

My question: can you top this WTF moment?

Only if you are the original and only owner of all the books. Start writing your initials on all the covers now.

Nope. That would be an aftermarket sale and would not count. Most go by the honor system. However, if you are an auction house with no honor, then you concoct an elaborate tale that tugs on the heartstrings and dub it the Promise Collection.

Pedigrees, by my understanding, are largely defined/accepted by collectors in general and (maybe more so nowadays) the grading companies. So you would need to convince folks that you have a large, mostly high-condition original owner collection that's worth recognizing. Pedigrees aren't something that I pay a lot of attention to but I believe they all also tend to be old. I'm not sure that a run of Bronze age Avengers would do the trick.

Pedigrees almost always contain a large depth and breadth of issues across multiple titles in uncharacteristicly high grade and page quality. There are a few exceptions, but there are no recognized single title run pedigrees to my knowledge.

@BrianGreensnips based on my experience with them I believe they are a very old and very specialized little company. They pre-date the internet by long enough that weekends were probably never even a consideration and Fridays were determined to be unnecessary decades ago.

But you make up for it in class and grace! Maybe they will make an exception based on that, lol.
Honestly, @martymann, I think what would make your Pedigree interesting is that you could probably provide a little story for each book in the collection.

They have been around since Tudor times. During those times, for most poor people the only place to keep their animals was in the house with the people - and domestic animals would often be put up in the rafters. Roofing at the time was simple thatch that dropped directly into the house so that at times of heavy downpour rain would fall through the thatch, and either flush or encourage the "pets" to return to ground level.

I believe that King George @ E. Gerber invented the phrase "it's raining cats and dogs."

But I'm always happy to tell you about any book in my collection

I really think it is unfortunate and a missed opportunity to not recognize your books as a pedigree given vintage and OO status.

At what point should an artist/creator/writer refuse the request of customer? I feel Kevin Eastman should be ashamed of himself for doing this to this TMNT #1 1st Print. I knew he was a sellout and signs far too much stuff, but this really grinds my gears.

I hate remarks, but I'm perfectly ok with fewer desirable copies on the census.
He can scribble on all of them if he wants to... except mine.
