Rice, black beans, and pork,.. thanks to @esaravo's recipe. I didn't change a thing, except for cutting the recipe in half and I didn't include the Frank's.

After a few Heinekens while watching football,.. Oh yeah!

So. My brother is cold smoking bacon. Apparently home made bacon is suppossed to be superior to store bought. He has been smoking it for 2 to 3 hours. Not sure what next step is, but here is a picture of him double stacking a smoker together so the meat is as far from heat as possible.

If thick sliced Prosciutto tastes like raw bacon, does that mean that paper thin raw bacon would taste like Prosciutto?

@RexMuff

I spoke to my brother and he said final stage is actually slicing and eating. We do not have a meat slicer so he is going to be slicing the bacon by hand. I'm assuming thick cut. Tomorrow is going to be BLT for lunch... =)

Homemade gingerbread cookies. Decorated by my 3yo son. He is a very smart and sweet kid but his icing work … well, looks like both these ginger-men were iced. Left one fatally shot? Right one took an axe or maybe katana to the head… they were delicious though!

It's a good thing you aren't eating it. Black beans are overrated. The quinoa of the bean world.

got the supplies for christmas cooking.

will be making perogies, cabbage rolls and french onion soup!...although....not sure the onions are french!!

need a few more supplies as a special treat may be creme caramel and or brulee - don't know why but I've always like make creme caramel more than brulee.

the only "problem" with perogies and cabbage rolls is that I'll end up making enough to freeze and last half the year

My chili recipe is actually a Frito Pie recipe from the Pioneer Woman. However, since I don't use the Fritos, I up the salt.

Ohhh.....those are a possibility too..I'm bad though....the farmers market has a local guy who makes them so it's just way easier to buy than make.

can't really buy perogies or cabbage rolls...sure the grocery store has something labeled as perogies but that's about as close as they get - home made are on another level!
