I’m confused, then. Cuz CGC was far more lenient. Doesn’t that suggest it’s true?

Just rethink it by taking CGC out of the equation.

I see.

As far as the tied grade? A broken clock is right twice a day.

I’d need to see dozens and dozens of examples of this exact situation to sway me, personally.

Aside from the grading, PGX’s long history of poor business practices don’t disappear. Along with frequently missing restoration.

@Mikeoliver1313 PGX has a long history of questionable practices
including but not limited to:
self grading
missing restoration, cut coupons, missing pages, trimmed comics
'witnessing' un-witnessed signatures
general over grading

all of these are prolonged issues over well...decades now!

not to say all PGX books are graded incorrectly but enough (higher value books) have consistently been show to have these issues since PGX started in 2002

This particular book might be ok....but do you want to take the chance on books pre 1980 where colour touch, trimming, cut coupons etc. are common??

Agreed! For me, I'd need to see a large percentage of their annual intake of this exact situation and even then it likely wouldn't sway me.

What PGX really needs to do is clean house and change their name. They have to distance themselves as much as possible from their past. Third party grading really stands on one pillar only, integrity. Once that's lost...I'm not sure its recoverable.

I believe the forum members explained why in detail. This has been the rule here since day one. ONLY pictures of CBCS and CGC slabs are allowed to be posted.

Jesse, assuming my ignorance and in the interest of clarity; can you please tell me why PGX images are not allowed.

Just for clarification, you can TALK about PGX (and others), you just can't post PICTURES of any slabs besides CBCS and CGC.

Yeah that's a new rule I think they implemented this year.
Luckily I got all of my PGX slabs in before they did it.
Finally sold the last one last week 👍

Perhaps “consistent” is the better word for it.

Same rules. You can talk, but not show. That's why the rule is "ONLY CBCS and CGC slabs are allowed to be posted" instead of "no PGX".

CGC has been consistently inconsistent with grading, but I noticed this comic at auction that I was thinking about bidding on before zooming in. Maybe it once was a 9.6 but it's definitely not a 9.6 anymore.

It's not reasonable to use a single comic to form an opinion of a company. I prefer CBCS, but both companies have their share of slabs with grades that I don't agree with.

You should know, publicly questioning the moderators' actions on the forum, like you did above, is also a strict no-no. You aren't allowed to do it, ever. Jesse is a moderator, so he might suspend you for a week, just for talking about how "speechless" you are over his editing, what's the big deal, etc.

And, you are supposed to have read the rules before you post. So being new might not be an excuse for not knowing the rules.

In some cases you may get a warning first before a suspension. I have heard that can happen. But that has not been my experience.

How'd you end up choosing this book to run the test with? I'm thinking if I wanted to test the grading companies I would have used something with lower stakes involved.

This is a strange post from a guy that doesn't care about anyone's opinion asking for opinions on different grading companies and then he says he goes against the grain, so does he care about other's opinions?

Why waste time sending the same comic to different grading companies? You spent over 6 months shipping the same comic back and forth, supposedly. I actually don't believe you at all now that I've reread your original post. Although, with all your contradictory statements you do sound like someone that could be capable of making this type of decision for no rational reason. I'm not sure why your post irritates me so much, it's likely because it's such nonsense, and to add to it, your accusatory nature of CBCS not believing in transparency really grinds my gears.

great question. So I bought uf4 already graded from eBay. It was the only cbcs book I had. My brother has a CGC membership so I submitted it under his membership. I don’t have a cbcs membership or know any one who has one I can use. But I do believe a pond future research now I don’t need a membership to submit a book to cbcs. And pgx doesn’t require one either
