I picked up YA#1 for cover price off the rack and UF 4 was a $40 convention buy (still in the bag)

YA is in for grading but UF sits in a box!

Really hope when YA returns it is 9.8!!

The UF is hard to get in a 9.8. Some last year I thought were beautiful, still ended at 9.6. I've got a few others I am eagerly awaiting the news.

But yes, I think you should grade and sell both, pick them up later for less. UF4 9.8 for $3000? Heck yeah. Even a 9.4 is gonna be $900 or $1000.

Argh!

I have to quit reading this! You’re making me second guess selling my YA 1, lol!

Good luck, my friend!

Hahaha. Well, I'll tell you what I do ... since we can't predict where comics will go, I just sell them now, as fast as I can. And when I get a big sale, I take part of the proceeds and I look really hard at copies on eBay, and I try to buy 2-3 raw copies for the same price. The raws tend to lag behind the graded copies. I mean, of course they are cheaper, but also - I THINK - the upticks are a little behind, too.

Anyway, I guess that will work until the market tanks, and then you are left holding the bag on stuff you can barely sell at cost. But at least you'll have three copies where before you had one.

I have enough FOMO, I'm not selling keys unless I have two of them.

Sooo....what about reprints?

I have an ASM 101 reprint (silver background) that is a 9.8 contender.
Should I grade now and hope for bump when they release the movie in 2022?

Basically I'd have to send it in now to get it back in time!!!

Tax evasion is an American Past-time. I think the better question is...how many people who find ways to evade taxes also believe that other people should be paying higher taxes?

@EbayMafia - I think everybody should use every tax evasion method they can think of, and nobody should pay higher taxes. We need to starve that vampire government of every penny of blood. Force it to become more efficient and stop spending money where they shouldn't.

Well, aside from the simplistic and discredited "starve the beast" reasoning, the disallowed political commentary, and advocating for breaking the law, do you have anything constructive to add?

Nah, nevermind ... probably best to just steer the conversation back to the comics, and take the right-wing nonsense over to Parler or 8chan, no?

Everyone should pay the taxes they owe. I still wonder if the flippers without business licenses are doing it. If they are then I think that's great! If they aren't then I hope they get a very nice audit that develops the taxes and penalties owed for them to pay.

Yep. Maybe $300 - $400 in 9.8? Not as good a deal as the #1, but still worth going for probably.

I just got the 1.
Been years since I bought a modern like that.
Last one was Spidey 300 I bought back in 1995

Not sure what the heck is going on here. @Tedsaid can you explain this:

This is the Frison Variant, not the foil edition. Maybe the bidders are confused?

Wow! No, I can't explain it. Except for my "Two guys with more money than sense just want to win the auction" theory. The Unlocked Retailer version should not be worth this much.

What's weird is, the winner came in at the last moment, but the other guy placed his bid a month ago.

I've always said, if there are multiple similar versions for a cover, you should always buy the cheapest option. That counts here, too, because that foil version is ridiculously expensive. (Although I just had a look at ComicLink, and a foil copy sold there four days ago for just $405!) All things being equal, the lower-priced comic will have upward pressure on the price due to any confusion there may be, and the higher-priced comic will have downward pressure for the same reason.

The ComicLink results for SiKtC seems to be all over the place. A 9.8 of the regular #1 just sold for only $700. That's $900 or $1000 this week on eBay.

I'm glad to see the 4th print variant for #1 getting some good numbers there. It sold for $356, which isn't bad. That is absolutely my favorite cover, amongst a LOT of fantastic covers.

A book that we are over-looking in all this madness is Hulk 180. Typically Hulk 180 has sold at about 20% of the Hulk 181 price in same grade. This always seemed far to low to me, and how I wish I had put my money where my mouth was. The last 3 sales in 7.0 have all been over $2,000, averaging $2,400. This puts it at about 40% of the Hulk 181 FMV in same grade. And 3X what is was selling for 2 months ago.

Edge of spiderverse 2 I think is the book to watch from the moderns.....2019 600 in the GPA, 2020 1200 in GPA, 2021 1750 so far.....we can also guess if they decide to make more animated movies about the Spiderverse, she will be either a key player or the star.

It's difficult for me to think of any graded Marvel key book that hasn't experienced crazy price increases. At this point, we're just tossing around which ones are crazier than crazy.
The only, and I mean only one I can think of is S.M. 101. Other than that, no others come to mind.

There's no need to make a list. Every book is crazy. The X-23 #1 Dell'Otto book has always been pricey because it's a known low print book; it's still managed to about double. I guess you could make a list of every Marvel book and leave other publishers off.
