Well, let’s think about this for a second: how is the MCU going to introduce mutants? This seems like a couple of phases out. You’d need to introduce them in a way that sets the stage for more conflict. So, maybe mutants start showing up and Magneto recruits the brotherhood. This might be enough to bring in other heroes. Even though it’s been done, the Phoenix saga might make the most sense. Say, X-Men get a couple of movies to establish the characters and set up Jean for being the Phoenix. Third MCU X-Men movie introduces the Shiar and Star Jammers. Jean to save the galaxy goes into the Mkrann Crystal. The power corrupts her on the way back to earth. Phoenix fights GotG in one of their movies, then an Avengers/ X-Men movie with Wolverine killing jean. Something like that... |

They will likely wait till after the new Doctor Strange movie which will set up the multi verse....similar to Dc's own multiple universe thing. Once they do that, the spiderman movie for instance can then work with the multiverse characters it already has shown and exposed. Given that we could well expect a different world that has x men on it, and fantastic four, allowing an easy answer why they were not there to help fight Thanos before. Once there is a multi verse to play in, they can make wolverine a character in one universe, x 23 in another, etc. That will be a few stages out....but the groundwork is already there in front of you....for instance the Jonah Jameson you saw in the closing credits was the one from the original set of spiderman movies...why? |

@southerncross that was the final auction price. I could see that maybe for like multiple SS with Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane etc but it's just a regular 9.8 graded.

I know of a collector back in Australia who has a full run of spiders from AF15 up. And he has multiples of 300 as he always bought one every time he saw one about 15 years ago. Think he has half a dozen at least. And about 3 or 4 issue 50s Think he bought my 6.0 issue 50 as well back then too. |

I don't have any particular guess as to if they'll throw Wolvie right back in the mix or go with X-23 or what. But as to how, I think the multiverse stuff makes sense. Loki, and maybe What If, will be a soft rollout for the idea on Disney+ this summer and then Spider-Man 3 sure seems like it's going to go into it pretty hard at the end of the year. Doctor Strange 2 comes out next year and will obviously be about it. Overall I agree with @Darkseid_of_town that they have options (with the multiverse being a natural one) for saying how all these other folks just start showing up.

@xkonk So, who is the big bad in this instance? Kang? Don’t get me wrong, Kang is a lot of fun, but leaving Doom and Galactus on the shelf for so long seems unwise. Now, having said that, who but comic readers knew anything about Thanos? Interesting times, indeed. |

As cool as Doom is to all of us, a scarred-up guy running around in an old set of armor just doesn't reach that bar. Possibly Kang, possibly Mephisto, possibly Galactus (though even he only eats one planet at a time). The Beyonder? There just aren't many threats to reach Infinity Gauntlet levels. |

Annihilus will happen at some phase Ultron could come back better and be a global threat Apocalypse long way off Ross/Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers could be interesting and they could have a huge climax without a single big bad |

I figured Skrulls which could have made things really fun, but it seems secret invasion is more localized. They could do Doom and go for secret wars 2015. As fun as alternate realities are, I’m not so sure the general movie going public is going to latch on to it. I’ve been wrong before, though. |

@Jabberwookie an article I was reading on the Marvel schedule said that Kang is showing up in Ant-Man 3 late next year. If he's the bad guy for that movie (and not just 'appearing') then he isn't the next Thanos. I don't really have an idea as to where the next big bad shows up. I do think it's worth remembering that Thanos didn't appear until Avengers (movie #6) and wasn't played by Josh Brolin until Guardians (#10). The payoff didn't happen until the end of Phase 3, some 20 movies in. They may or may not give any hint as to what the next overarching link is going to be for a couple years. They haven't even announced the next version of the everybody-teams-up movie yet. If they stick with the line-wide storylines, some options would be the Beyonder (Secret Wars), Adam Warlock (roughly, Infinity Wars), revived Thanos (Infinity, Civil War II sort of), some alien race (Annihilation, the plant thing they just did). But if you want a wild idea, maybe they make mutants the 'bad guys'? Some kind of mix of Inhumans vs X-Men and/or Decimation, either in the prime universe or another dimension, gets mutants up in arms. They show up here and there but it culminates in something like Avengers vs X-Men. It wouldn't be as neat and tidy as turning Thanos to dust, but it ends when everyone remembers that mutants are people and racism is wrong while everybody is still a good guy even if they were fighting to the death two minutes ago. Then the X-Men are fully integrated for Phase 7 sometime after the heat death of the universe. |
