| Just wanted to get this one off my chest lol. As we have discussed prices are pretty crazy right now. I still continue to put up my want lists everywhere. To get to the rant, I was contacted by someone who said they had some of the books I wanted. Seller finally gets back to me with grade and price. These are the prices/condition I was quoted: X-men 107-vf $800 X-men 109-vf $1000 X-men 137-vf $230 X-men 239- vf $20 X-men 241- vf $70 Wolverine 8-vf $30 These books are all raw. I asked how he came up with the numbers. He gives me a link to gocollect smh. I was actually offended by this. He sent me pics of just the covers still in bags. Do sellers not know the difference between slabbed and raw? He off course said he has sold a lot of raw books at slabbed prices. His 107 would have to grade at a 9.6. His price on 241 doesn't even make sense lol. His Wolverine 8 might be tempting though so I haven't completed ripped into him. |

| it's worth what someone is going to pay for it you're not going to pay for it, so it's not worth it to you. that's why prices are nuts people are willing to pay it....... it's how the market works, so we will see if things calm down in the next few months as people start doing things again and things become more "normal" |

| I just pass on by so many instances of nonsense that I can't even count that high. It's sorta like folks listing "Near Mint" in the title field and clicking and seeing something a comic that was rolled up in someones pocket. I chuckle and move on when folks have no clue what they're doing. The good news is for every individual that overstates/overprices their stuff; there's another that does the opposite. Seek those out. It's work, but that's the work I enjoy and what brings me joy in this hobby - The art of finding the great deal |

| As a general thing, I don't mind paying slabbed prices for raw books (or near about). Not a 9.8, because I broadly never count on a raw book being 9.8 even if it's in my hands, but books like these that are all VF? I don't see why not. Which is maybe another way of saying that, generally, I don't believe in the simple act of slabbing as automatically adding value. I do think you have a good rant reason here in terms of someone asking NM price for VF books. That doesn't make any sense raw or slabbed. I think you shake your head and move on. |

 I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for.

| If the seller grades conservatively or does not press it is possible that you would receive a higher grade if you were to slab the book. To figure that out you would want clear pictures of the front and back of each book. You might also ask the seller if any flaws (on the interior) are not visible in the pictures. Once you can see the books clearly you can determine if his prices work with the actual grade of the book. If his grading is aggressive you can just move on. |
