I can’t even comprehend the greed of the Buyers, here. Why wouldn’t they just buy at that price, if sales are that high above the asking price?

Decline & raise that price.

@Scifinator I'm skeptical about that Gocollect info. It looks like it's all based on one recent sale of a CGC 9.6 for $129. I don't think it's at $600 but there probably is a reason why you are getting two offers back to back. Anything special about that book?

I got an offer on my New Mutants Annual 2 in 9.0. I have it on eBay for $100; offer is $75. I'm inclined not to take it just because the buyer has 'comic store' in his handle, although his feedback isn't high enough for him to be an actual store. More objective thoughts?

It’s actually a fair offer. But if you wanna hold, given e-bay fees, I’d understand. Maybe counter for $85?

It looks like a lot of copies are changing hands recently. Must be some kind of significance to it. I would expect this isn't going to be your only chance to sell it.

OK, somebody fess up: Who just raced with me to buy the last high grade raw copies on MCS? I got one, but the second one never made it into my cart. @flanders? That you?

@EbayMafia this is really the best advice. I know that Psylocke technically first appeared in a UK mag but I don't understand why this book hasn't skyrocketed like every other X-Men issue. I guess I should be the change I want to see in the world.

No, I'm going to take it easy on buying stuff until I move some of my inventory.

Wasn't me, either. Do you mean the New Mutants Annual #2? Off my radar. But sounds like a great pickup.

A 4.0 AF 15 recently sold for $45,901 on e-bay. It has literally jumped $20k since I acquired mine in FEBRUARY.

Sell or hold?

If it jumps more, I’ll feel obligated to sell. The numbers are just nuts.

@flanders @Tedsaid I was referring to the Star Wars book that @Scifinator was talking about. While he was raising the price to $600, MCS had two raw 9.4's (their grade, which can often be 9.8) at $18 each. One was purchased while I tried to buy them.

You probably already know this, but I was somewhat oblivious to this before now and could still be wrong about all this:

I believe short-term capital gains tax is equal to whatever income tax bracket you're in. Collectibles held longer than one year are subject to a capital gains tax of 28% regardless of your income tax bracket. Then you have to consider state capital gains tax on top of this and any selling fees that would reduce your net profit. As a California resident if I sold something like this I think I'd be paying 12% Federal and a 2% capital gains tax so my net income would be $17,200 before any selling fees on a $20k gross profit. Seems like a decent amount of money, but I'm in a low income tax bracket. I would still hold onto it though, there's a lot of rich geeks and not that many copies out there.

@flanders that's why God made parking lots. For selling things tax free and fighting Adam Liu. Seriously @00slim considering what @flanders is saying, if I were going to sell that book I would probably try to contact some bigger dealers in advance of a show. I would probably work out half in cash and half in credit towards some other pretty big books.

@EbayMafia so it might be worth something because of one recent 9.6 sale for $130 or is there something significant that happens in the issue?

@flanders I think we're spending too much time together. We're starting to speak each others wordsand sound like a married couple:

FYI: "For tax purposes, short-term capital gains are treated as ordinary income on assets held for one year or less. Long-term capital gains are given preferential tax rates of 0%, 15% or 20%, depending on your income level."

@Tedsaid I believe that's true unless it's on a collectible, which is taxed at a higher rate:

Should I counter or accept? The last one that sold three days ago for $667 has white pages. Listing has only been up 3 days.

Okay, nevermind, I found it. $750 list, offered $660? I'd say he's probably fishing for a deal at $700. You should probably take it, because that last sale was very high, but I'm on the fence ... maybe reply with something like:

"Hi! Thanks for your interest. This is a beautiful copy with great wraps. $660 is probably a little low, as it's only been up for two days. However, I'd be happy to knock off $50 for you.

Thanks,"

Then put in a counter at $699.

But I'm on the fence. $660 is actually a great price, considering where it was a few weeks ago. (On April 4th a 9.2 sold for $775, and on April 7 a 8.5 sold for $442.) So it's a risk, but ... well, it depends on how badly you want to sell it.

@Tedsaid thanks. I have a lower grade copy I picked up recently as well. I'm happy with keeping the lower grade and selling this one for more than double what I paid 2 months ago. I'll probably give it until tomorrow and then accept.
