I purchased this recently while bidding on this and a higher grade copy at the same time and didn't expect to win both. Purchase price of $110, offer on Ebay of $175, after an initial offer of $150. Looking at about a $40 profit after ebay fees. Should I sell and invest in something else or hold onto this one?

@flanders - If you have a better one, I would say sell it and reinvest the profit!

Thanks Ed, it's been sold, and the funds will be used to try to acquire a Strange Tales #169 for a decent price.

Anyone speculate on New Agents of Atlas? If you got multiples are you moving them now or holding?

Personally, I think any actual apperance of any of these characters in the MCU is 5-10 years away, if at all. The book is hot right now so I say sell, especially if you have multiple copies. Keep one and maybe you get lucky, but I say dump the rest. That's my two cents anyway.

So I got two copies each of Dakota North #1 and 2 Canadian price variants coming back from TX as 9.8. I have two more of each (all CPV) down there for grading as well. What do you think?

@lawguy1977 I got two copies from my LCS for not much more than cover; I would (probably) need to send them in before I sell them. But they had maybe four more so it would be easy to grab them now if it's worth it.

@xkonk If you can get them for close to cover price, I say go for it. Average sale for a 9.8 copy over the past couple of weeks is between $150 to $200, and I don't think that value is going to go down anytime soon because the speculators look at this as a long play.

I've got the copy I bought for cover price on its way to pressing and grading, too.

Good luck!

Happy 4th of July Everyone. I received an offer of $350 today on my X-Men #268 CBCS 9.8. Other copies have sold between $350-$450 in the last month and over the last 3 months a CBCS 9.8 sold for $380, even though it has an awful miswrap. My copy has a great wrap and unlike most copies sold the X-Men logo isn't cut off on the right side of the cover. I don't know if the offer of $350 was through MCS or Ebay, so the interested buyer could be offering closer to $400 for it through Ebay. I've had it at MCS for almost 3 months and this is the first offer, but I think it should be going for more, considering crappier looking copies have sold for a bit higher. Thanks for any advice

Tough to say. You could counter at $400. Really depends on if you’ve got your eye on something specific & if you think you’d miss the book.

@00slim I don't think I'd miss the book, I have another unslabbed copy, probably in the 8.5 range, but I don't really care that it's lower grade. I'm planning on cutting off my spending on comics this year, other than $30-40 a month for my monthly preorders, so I'm in no hurry to sell. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably give it a few hours and counter at $400.

Given how long it sat without an offer, part of me would be inclined to take the money. But the only way CBCS will gain ground is, if we demand prices equal with CGC. If you’re willing to wait it out in the case he declines the $400 offer, I’d counter.

@esaravo thanks Ed! Newest offer is $375 that I'm going to give a couple hours before likely accepting. There's a 9.8 cgc on ebay going for $405 at auction that's ending in a couple hours.

@flanders that's exactly the type of book I expect to go down when/if there's any price correction. I'd be tempted to take what I can get.

Sold for $375 through MCS. If it was purchased through ebay it would indicate"sold" instead of "ended" so I'm glad I didn't lose any money to fleabay on this one.

Ren & Stimpy #1 Newsstand CBCS 9.8 - recent CGC sales of $213.50 and an unknown offer accepted on a list price of $274.99. I received an offer of $255 for my copy listed on Ebay. I'm unsure whether to sell now or hold onto this since I have no knowledge of whether comics based on cartoons will continue to increase.

At first blush, it is a fair price, but, it is also a 1992 Newsstand and cartoon are seeming to be the next hot ticket, so I would probably be inclined to hold the price.

@Scifinator thanks! It seems very rare so I'm also leaning towards holding onto it, especially since it cost me less than $50 between the purchase price, pressing and grading.

The reboot looks to have been shelved, but like Beavis & Butt-Head which is being rebooting, Ren and Stimpy nostalgia/demand is being advanced somewhat by a new streaming contract, which certainly is would have boosted temporary demand, along with the talk of a reboot being greenlit back in late august of 2020.

On 11/23/20, this book hit its' all time GPA high of $298, I've no idea wether or not that was a newsstand but I'm doubtful it was.

It doesnt really pertain to what I'm getting at, so you can toss a coin on that.

I'm using this to point out the demand for the book WRT the sales trend on the book & going by the timeline of TV show reboot hype & apparently cancellation of said reboot.

A mere 7 days later, after a big public backlash about the reboot, the article linked below was published.

This article puts a knife into any reboot.

.....so despite what 2 sellers on eBay apparently expect out of their CGC 9.8 NS's without a reboot likely to happen, which a quick google search under "Ren & Stimpy" and clicking on the Google link for "news", shows....I'd say that is a decent offer and I'd likely take it.

I'd say that $255 + shipping would be a good sale.

I have recently heard that the show has once again been greenlighted for production but that certain creators will not be attached/asked back to the show due to harming the brand and relaunch.

I wouldn't say that, @flanders .....

The problem isn't creators in the plural sense, it is the one creator, J.K.....the reboot producers made a point to NOT include that individual in the production of the reboot, in any way.

J.K. was also fired from the show back in 1992, for not making deadlines.... well before the allegations of "grooming underage childen" became public. I've no idea if the allegations are true, but if true, J.K. is indeed a morally reprehensible individual.

The public backlash, in the form of the petition with 11k+ signatures, still reportedley got the reboot stopped.

I just did another search per @buckets posted and it looks like more recent news from 1/1/2021 indicates the reboot is moving forward, see link 1 below.

So my post last night about being fine w/taking $255 may not be the best advice.

That said, the comic market is in a speculatory bubble , similiar to the 1990's spen boom/bust cycle...the bubble going to last and the impact of online sales tax laws 2 being greatly increased for anyone who sells just over $600/yea takes effect in 1/1/2022....which cannot be good for the collectibles market.

It'd likely be short, given the tax code will effectively put most smaller comic dealers outta business. In a way, that's good for the comic market, dang near everyone who buys comics at shops & cons is now also a flipper, the spec bubble only increased that.

Tough to price this book but I'd be happy walking away with , at the minimum gross sale price of $350 for a slabbed 9.8 NS right now, after fees , I think a NS in 9.8 of this book is realistically worth a 10-15% premium above a direct slabbed 9.8...the GPA high is $298, so $350 in newsstand 9.8 is fair.

Than again,it's been over 6 months since the positive news about the reboot below, which appears to be the most recent...the reboot producers have done a good job of distancing themselves from J.K.

@KatKomics I don't think it would do well at auction but since it's a minor key with the first app of Old Man Logan I'd price it at $300 obo and see what happens. Cover A seems more popular and has been selling for $175-$225 unsigned.
