Okay, nevermind, I found it. $750 list, offered $660? I'd say he's probably fishing for a deal at $700. You should probably take it, because that last sale was very high, but I'm on the fence ... maybe reply with something like:

"Hi! Thanks for your interest. This is a beautiful copy with great wraps. $660 is probably a little low, as it's only been up for two days. However, I'd be happy to knock off $50 for you.

Thanks,"

Then put in a counter at $699.

But I'm on the fence. $660 is actually a great price, considering where it was a few weeks ago. (On April 4th a 9.2 sold for $775, and on April 7 a 8.5 sold for $442.) So it's a risk, but ... well, it depends on how badly you want to sell it.

@Tedsaid thanks. I have a lower grade copy I picked up recently as well. I'm happy with keeping the lower grade and selling this one for more than double what I paid 2 months ago. I'll probably give it until tomorrow and then accept.

@Scifinator great advice. I've sent @Tedsaid's suggested message exactly as written so if it doesn't work I can blame him .

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Not a question so much as a relevant-to-this-thread story. I put an Astonishing X-Men lot on eBay for $50. The books aren't 9.8 candidates but it includes 1, 3, and 6 (the SWORD books that were hot from WandaVision). The listing goes up at noon and within a day I had three offers at $40, $35, and $25. I messaged the two low offers to thank them but someone has already offered higher (the $40 was actually the first to come in) and that they could go over it, or I would probably accept it in the morning. I go to bed and when I wake up, a fourth person bought it at the listed price.

I don't know that I have a moral to the story, other than maybe I should have listed it higher? I know there are similar, cheaper listings out there. Kind of a nice problem to have.

I bought a Sgt. Fury and Howling Commandos #1 first appearance of Nick Fury the other day for a great price, and I decided to try and flip it. I listed it for $600 and just received a $500 offer. I’m not really a Marvel guy but a recent sale for a 2.0 was $1300 from a few days ago. Assuming this book has potential in the future, but I’m not sure. Mine is like a 1.5, detached cover with a fragile spine. Sell or hold?

If a graded 2.0 is going fit $1300, I think $500 is too low.

Maybe consider grading it.

@jokioo - honestly, i would have CBCS press & grade.

With a detached cover, I don’t know if I’d press it. But that’s up to the individual, of course.

@jokioo - A 0.5 recently sold for $325, and your copy is probably in the 1.0 to 1.5 range. The way things have been going, someone will take it for the $600.

I think grading will take to long, so I would sell it. Fragile comics make me uncomfortable anyway.

There's been no response to my WWBN #33 counteroffer, not even a message from the interested buyer saing the original offer is still on the table. Not so bad though, it's still only been up 3 days and I bought it with no intention of selling.

@jokioo I have an even uglier copy that I would not sell for $500. Many years ago I sold my 5.0 copy immediately after slabbing because it was a quick and easy profit. I’ve always regretted it. Some books you just don’t get that many chances to own.

Saw this book selling for about $500. I didnt pay near to that is this a good time to sell or is kitty pryde about to be in an mcu movie? I dont want to regret selling in this bubble but I dont want to ditch this if its going to be worth any more later down the line.

@CarsonG

Nobody is going to give you the right answer because nobody knows. You need to set a price you are comfortable selling it at with as little regret as possible, or don't sell it at all.

Keys are going up like gangbusters over the last month, I personally would wait on all of them until things plateau. Fury 1 is a big key, Kitty Pride is a pretty big key.

Regarding grading fragile books, no better way to preserve them than a slab IMO.

I think Kitty Pryde & Gambit’s 1st appearances have both been undervalued keys for years.

They’re finally taking off.

If you’re a Kitty Pryde fan, keep for sure. If you think you’ll possibly regret selling, keep for sure.

If you need some cash & won’t regret selling, set it free.

Sell or Hold? Even at the $751 offer I’m doing very well on it, but with how much the standard cover has risen, $751 isn’t quite on par for prices risen. I don’t know. BTW, if it’s a member here I’ll accept the offer.

With a cgc blue on ebay at $817 after shipping and a CBCS Witnessed at 999, I might be inclined to accept, but in honesty, I know jack $#!+ about post y2k comics.

So a couple of months ago, I started this thread with a SELL or HOLD of What If 10 9.8 with an offer of $900.

Well, here we are again. I had raised my listing price from $1,200 to $1,500 (which shows up on ebay at $1,700) and this morning I received an offer of $1,414. I suspect that this is actually an offer through ebay at $1,600 based upon the somewhat odd $1,414 offer. There has only been 1 9.8 which sold for over 1k and that was right about the same time back in March.

SELL or HOLD?

Risk of hold market cools down price goes down.
Risk of sell price spikes further beyond this point when Thor trailer hits.

Decision- HOLD / counter at list of 1,500(1,700 ebay)

Personally, I would wait until the first trailer hits. In my opinion, that would hit a greater audience looking for the book. Some folks might know now she is thor, but when the trailer hits everyone and their brother will know.

I'd hold, a book like that grade doesn't come into the equation.

Think I saw a similar manufacturing error book where a marvel cover was over a DC interior and the seller was asking for thousands.

Think you should hold as there are collectors who like manufacturing error books. I like them myself 👍
