| CBCS newbie here that has a bunch of comics that I held since I was a kid. I have multiple copies of most of the Death or Superman, Reign of Supermen, Funeral for a Friend, and Return of Superman and I am having trouble figuring out which are valuable and should be slabbed (if any). Black bags, white bags, unbagged, embossed, etc. Can anyone link me to a resource that describes the differences especially for Superman #75? Not sure if they are first editions or fourth editions and don't know how to tell. Thanks in advance! |

| Excellent info. I love the GoCollect website! Thanks! Does CBCS open the poly-bagged editions to grade them? Doesn't that slightly diminish the value if they do? |

| @RonMob - You can’t grade or slab a poly-bagged comic. If it is sent to CBCS or CGC, they will remove it from the bag. Another thing about poly-bagged books, the seam can leave an impression or mark on the back cover. It can usually be pressed out. | ||

| One more question on these Death of Superman comics...assuming that I believe they will be rated at 9.6 or 9.8 do their values at this time warrant grading and certification? GoCollect indicates that Superman #75 is valued around $60 at 9.6 and $120 at 9.8 (in its various iterations) and Superman #123 is valued around $40/$99. What is a rule of thumb that you you all use to determine when it is cost effective to slab a book? I also discovered that I have Static #1 which seems to be highly valued at $160 @ 9.6 and $300 @ 9.8 but does not appear to be widely certified (around 200 copies) or traded. Mine is probably 9.4 or 9.6 - Worth certifying? |
