I would let them do it.

Also, if these are poly bags that create a vertical crease on the back cover, the books may need pressing.

And they're extremely rare.

Only one million copies printed.

Don't think there are one million comic collectors world wide.

Could be wrong, I do own 4, 2 un bagged and 2 bagged.

So the numbers are reduced when collectors become completists

Hopefully the new cashless world currency will be CBCS slabs. Because I'm swimming in them. Struggling to figure out where to store this most recent arrival of 25 before the next 15 arrive.

You could group the slabs together and build a indoor cubby house for your kids or nephews and nieces when they visit. 😂

$42k. Dang. I would buy 21,000 copies of Darkhawk #1 and 21,000 copies of Sleepwalker #1 with that scratch.

Ha!

For all our joking, someone is pumping that kind of money into the hobby, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

One of the stats I see a lot is 60 percent of the American public could not handle a $600 emergency, so 40k on books seems difficult to explain.

It’s got me really curious...

Unless the guy from Arlington sold his whole collection to get that book!

I've heard that people from the trading card hobby are injecting cash into comics now, but it wouldn't surprise me if other investors (real estate, Wall Street, precious metals, etc) are getting in on the action.

There are 13 9.9 graded copies on the CGC census.
There is a single 10.0 graded copy using the 13 to 1 ratio that puts it at $546,000 I'll take it!!

I think some of them did during the 2008 crash.

That makes sense.

My guess is there’s anxiety about the stock market and people are finding alternative investments, much like precious metals going up when the market drops.

But, for all our puzzlement at insane prices, we don’t often ask where this new money is coming from.

I will say that it does feel like a lot of collectors are at the ground floor of a growing market.

I know right? I don't pay much attention to the ultra high grades - the 9.9s & 10.0s - but when they come up you can't help to think what if? Like the one 9.9 graded Hulk 181 that is probably a $1,000,000 book. I remember a few months ago I saw a 9.9 ASM 361 on the CGC boards for $10,000 I don't know if it sold for that but wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I’ve got some books that have only been touched a handful of times, never read and I wonder if I could get one a 9.9 or 10.

I couldn’t imagine a major key getting that high.

I mean, good for that guy.

I’d love to be swimming in my pool that Deadpool bought me...
