Utter insanity!! If I had $42,000 to spend on comic books it would never ever be on NM #98!

This one book cost more than the 17,000 comic book collection collection that Chuck Rozanski bought. (see comic shots been fired)

Same here!

42K would score a killer batch of Pre-Code Horror,... even a decent AF-15.

Although I would have gone the PCH route.

It makes me wonder who has 42k to drop on a NM 98?

Is it hedge fund mangers jumping in or something?

I have spent what I thought was stupid money on comic books once or twice, but none of my purchases came close to those sales. Those Spider-man #1 and New Mutants #98 purchases are nothing short of stupidity.

daredevil 1 8.5 just sold shy of 16k. I bought the highest grade I could at the time hoping it would payoff, thankfully it is. I think it has a ways to go still

With the spike in Moderns; my spidey “no price” variant has doubled in value. Time to CPR for a 9.8? It worked for my newsstand.

I'm doing the same with a few issues of Star Wars 1 in 9.6.

The worlds currencies are doomed to devalue. We talk about the businesses that closed in the last year and will never re-open. What we forget to consider is all the new businesses that typically start up each year. Who is going to sign a new lease to start a new restaurant or hair salon in the next few years? Fear of lockdowns will keep much of that from happening. So much commercial real estate that will sit empty. So much commercial construction that won't happen. Nations are going to be printing money and floating their economies for some years to come.

Until we become a cashless society.

And it's just around the corner.

@GAC This is a brilliant comparison. A judgment call on a graders desk made this book worth more than the entire collection that Spicoli spent the last 30 years of his life putting together. Funny thing is, that collection had at least 5 slabs that I would rather own than this 9.9 New Mutants.

I've got one of those. Any idea what they are going for? Also, when I get it graded, who takes it out of the polybag, me or them?

Also, if these are poly bags that create a vertical crease on the back cover, the books may need pressing.

And they're extremely rare.

Only one million copies printed.

Don't think there are one million comic collectors world wide.

Could be wrong, I do own 4, 2 un bagged and 2 bagged.

So the numbers are reduced when collectors become completists

Hopefully the new cashless world currency will be CBCS slabs. Because I'm swimming in them. Struggling to figure out where to store this most recent arrival of 25 before the next 15 arrive.

You could group the slabs together and build a indoor cubby house for your kids or nephews and nieces when they visit. 😂
