That’s the look when you think your books are worth 100K retail but you are either too lazy to sell them yourself, or you have to quickly unload them for many possible reasons for 40K. I can relate, I slowly sell $10-$20 lots on EBay, try to average about $1500 a month in sales. (Used to be convention fodder) It is a lot of time, but this is definitely not the time to sell the good books, and I do not want my heirs stuck with long boxes of commons. So, I suck it up, take pictures, figure a grade, list and ship, over and over. |

Quote:Originally Posted by doog I was thinking along these lines as well. 60 long boxes would equate to something like 15,000 comics. If you're trying to sell all those yourself on Ebay, it'll take a long time. Most people simply don't have that kind of time or energy. Part of taking $40k is getting this done in one shot. That's the trade off. |

Here are a couple better pictures. The second one is Chuck's cargo van. He had picked up a 120 box collection in San Antonio the day before. He ended up having to ship some comics by freight carrier. ![]() ![]() |

It always amazes me after a convention. Watching comics worth hundreds of thousands of dollars being rapidly stacked into old boxes and then crammed into a 20 year old cargo van.

@Jesse_O Wow! Way back when I was younger, I worked for a pay phone company and my van frequently was loaded with equipment and, of course, many bags of change. It was so heavy that I had to have a heavier duty jack to change flats. With that van loaded up with a ton of paper, I assume he has to have a better jack than the cheaply scissor jack that comes standard. Definitely not some cargo you want on the side of the highway for long. |

@Siggy I wouldn’t say superior, but it’s definitely different styles. Mustaine is probably more technically proficient and faster, but Hammett really plays with some bluesy type passion. I wouldn’t kick either guy out of my band, but I’d also think both bands are better that they split. And, I do also like Whitesnake. Their hair metal phase isn’t the best look, but the music holds up for the most part. Although, Here I Go Again was a crap song then and worse now. It’s like the Batman and Robin of songs. |

@HeinzDad I'm glad you took that with the humor I intended!!! I remember back when the HUGE debate was whether Megadeth or Metallica were better. While I tend to like Metallica better, I like many Megadeth tunes also. I think @Jabberwookie is right about both bands being better. But Whitesnake was actually my first love between the three bands. Their early, more bluesy, tunes are some of my all time favorite songs. I often listen to the whole "Ready an' Willing" cd. "Love man" and "Ain't gonna cry no more" are excellent!!! |

For me it was always Metallica, Maiden, Anthrax and to a lesser extent Megadeth. Not a bad time for thrash metal, at all. |

I feel Hetfield is the better writer. To me, if you compare Metallica's best (probably MOP or AJFA...maybe RTL) to Megadeth's best Rust In Peace...Metallica has the better output...just my opinion. |

Master of Puppets benefits from stellar production and sound engineering by Flemming Rasmussen. It really is a phenomenal album. Megadeth didn't benefit from great production until Rust in Peace came out. Peace Sells, and So Far So Good So What still retain a raw, unpolished sound. Comparing Puppets to Peace, I would probably throw Puppets ahead just based on the sound and production of it. However, Marty's solo on Tornado of Souls is the stuff of legend. Both bands faltered mightily throughout the 90s. Cryptic Writings was ok. Risk and Youthanasia not so much. Load and Reload were definitely loads.
