| I’ve got a couple of books I slabbed without pressing (I know, I know) and I’m thinking of reslabbing and pressing. Has anyone ever done this and what was your experience? |

| ASM 129 CGC 9.0, pressed to a CGC 9.4, put in CGC Franenslab, pressed again, CBCS 9.4. I've had a couple moderns go from 9.2 to 9.8. It depends on the initial flaws. Light bends, waves, and creases I can take a chance with the CPR method. |

| @Studley_Dudley So, it sounds like it might be worth it. I’ve got an Avengers Annual 10 that is an 8.0. I might need to give the grader notes to see what the flaws were, but I’m hoping I can get that closer to a 9-ish. |

| To go from an 8.0 to a 9.0, you're looking at a difference of $25. Unless you are doing the pressing yourself, is it worth paying for shipping, pressing, slabbing, and shipping back to you? | ||

| There's the current monetary value part, and the emotional value to you part. Will you be 5 imaginary dollars happier with a 9 instead of an 8? Will you beam with $20 worth of pride when you pull the slab out to look at it? Or are you going to feel kind of meh? | ||

| @Jabberwookie - Been there, done that, and still do. For the most part it has been me sending in other guys slabs for press & re-encasement/grade to CBCS. Most of the time it has panned out for me. I also have a couple of dozen comics that i had CBCS grade waiting to be sent back in for press. Most of those were originally sent in in the original comic polybag and have that dreaded “polybag crease” that i did not know about until too late. But still, there are two ends of it if it is for market value (selling), it is pretty easy to calculate the risk/reward. On the other hand, when it is NFS personal collection, you have to do some soul searching. For me, a 9.6-9.8 is much more desired than an 8.0 - 9.4 even on a 9.8 drek that isn’t most would pay $25-$40 for |

| Thanks, everyone. All great points. The dollar value points that have been made are pretty compelling. I was really hoping to have a better copy of that book. 8 seems low for a book that’s only 40 years old, but that was the copy I had. I love the book, regardless, but I wouldn’t mind it being a little more valuable. I’ll let you know what I decide, but I’m leaning toward not doing anything right now. |

| I've had 3 slabs CPR'd: CGC Hulk 181 6.0 OWW to CGC 7.0 OWW CGC ASM #121 8.0 W to CGC 8.5 W CBCS GSX1 6.5 W to CGC 7.5 OWW I would only do this for books I want to keep slabbed, and if I'm "sure" it would benefit from a CPR. Of the 3 above, the GSX1 (purchased here on the forum  ) was a sure thing, I thought the ASM would go to at least 9.0, but the right edge just wouldn't allow it, and the Hulk 181 was a happy roll of the dice way back when I was new to CPRing. I have an ASM 5 that I think would look better with a press, but I'm not convinced the grade would change enough to risk shipping back and forth from me to my presser and to whoever afterwards and back. It's climbing (finally), so it remains a possibility. But of my 9.4s and 9.6s, I won't play that game of hoping for a bump just because it's been a couple years. I often joke about sending my 'Tec 686 CGC 9.9 in hoping for a 10.0 |

| @Siggy Wow! With those 3 books you probably gained $100 a piece in value, though. I don’t think I’d get but $25, and I’m not sure if I’m overestimating what a press could do for that book. Hoping to go to a 9 to 9.2 with a press might be really wishful thinking. If you go crazy and get 9.9 pressed, you have to share that. I’m impressed with a 9.9! |

| @Scifinator well, I’ll be.., That’s great info! Thanks for sharing. So, it sounds like keeping comics in the poly bag has no real benefit. If I get it graded, they remove it and if I’m unlucky, I have nice reminder of it being in the bag. |

| @Jabberwookie actually, if CBCS removes from polybag, they will typically send back the polybag and any LOOSE cards or posters contained within. That way, you can keep together perhaps in the back of the protective bag that they ship the encasements in. | ||
