Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is well and safe.

When selling comics on the forum what do I need to do on PayPal to receive payment. Do I need to setup or add a service to do this?

If they have your email they can send you paypal. You don't have to set up anything beyond the PayPal account itself.

My only suggestion is that you never do friends and family unless you really know the person you are dealing with.

For me, since everybody on this forum are very cool and don't want to be banned from the forum or CBCS they are very trust worthy. I tell them I don't do paypal, but can send a check or money order and so far I've never had a problem. Great group of guys here. Anyway, why risk getting banned for a few bucks.

@Rafel When requesting a check or money order, do you provide a PO BOX or home address?

@Bronte so based on you saying "never do friends and family unless you really know the person" using PayPal to receive payment is not the way to go?

To answer your question, no, this is not where the comics go to die. MutantMania private msg quote post Address this user
@Rafel Why would you get banned for using Paypal?

@Rinova I think Paypal is a great way to go. It's easy, fast, and money is available instantly. It protects the buyer in case of a problem as well.

You could always try venmo or another cash app as well.

@Rinova

I'm sorry. Let me explain a bit further. There are 2 options in getting money. Friends and family which I believe has no surcharge. Then there is a business type option which charges I think 3% surcharge. I don't know the amount for a fact so please look it up.

The friends and family option has NO RECOURSE if something happens. So say you pay me friends and family and your expecting a book in return, you better be damn sure you know me before risking money. (No. I won't steal your money, but others may not care.)

People want to avoid that 3% fee, but that fee keeps folks honest.

I hope that clarifies things a bit....

No, you wouldn't get banned from paypal I meant from the forum and CBCS for selling an item saying it's 9.8 when it's 6.0.

I give my home address for two reasons. 1) So the seller knows where to send the comic books to and 2) Where I send the check or money order to.

Example: I just bought X-MEN #8 from Cgroc09, it came today and it was just like he said it was. I'm very happy and he got my check.

Me personally, I would not want to be messing around with checks and the bank. I would rather use PayPal like @MutantMania stated, "it is easy, fast, and the money is available instantly. Just my 2 cents.

I typically pay using PayPal, and if it is someone I have had multiple dealings with, I don’t mind using Friends and Family. On a few occasions, for larger purchases, I have sent a Bank Check for payment. I always tell the seller to please wait for my payment before they ship the item, but some actually have shipped before they receive it. Amazing amount of trust on both sides when you think about it.

Thank you everyone. I definitely don't want to get banned from the Forum so I will only try to sell slabs since my grading skills are not good. I will offer the Friends and Family option to avoid the surcharge but will also agree to the business type option which has the surcharge.

Stay safe and well everyone.

@Rinova - If you sell on the CBCS forums, you have to follow their selling guidelines that are posted on the main forum page near the top, which include guidelines on payment. Good luck.

Cgroc09 is a great seller, I've bought a few books including an X-men 1 8.5 from him. Currently I'm buying an X-men 4 9.2 and a few other books from Paul. I highly recommend him.
