Need Information from early-1990s Overstreet Guide13738

You do know that the new guy brings the donuts, right? DWeeB1967 private msg quote post Address this user
Hi everyone.

I no longer have any of my old Overstreet price guides. Over the years, they've been given away, recycled, etc.

Can someone with copies of the OPG from, say, 1989 to 1995 look in those issues and let me know what, if anything, is reported for the following comic?

Title = Rust
Issue = 12
Publisher = Now Comics
Release Date = 08/1988 (I think)

Current OPGs don't even list this comic. Graded CGC copies show an additional comment added to the label (CBCS does not add the comment) but I know for a fact that the added comment is only part of the story for this book.

Anyway, if anyone with OPGs in the 1989-1995 range can let me know what, if anything is reported for this book, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks, @KCBatmanFan and @steveinthecity.

Specifically, the information that I was looking for appears to have first been reported by OPG in 1992: this book is the first appearance of the Terminator in comics.

With the rise in importance (and price) of 1980s movie and TV properties, this book appears to have been completely forgotten about. Still, @KCBatmanFan, you gave me exactly what I was looking for.

Now I need to figure out #1 how to get this information into future issues of OPG and #2 how to get CGC and CBCS to update their label information for this book.

🍻 🍻 to both of you.

Pay a boatload of money for a 9.8 and start a wave of speculation, convincing others to do the same.

Thanks, @chester15.

Copies are fairly easy to find in mid to low grade. However, high grade copies are EXTREMELY tough to find. The back cover is solid black except for a little bit of white text so it shows every crease, stress mark, etc.

The only graded 9.8 (CGC) that I have ever seen sold on eBay a few months back. I'm kicking myself for not buying it.

I've bought copies of this for years, @Siggy.

I bought my first copy off a spinner rack at a 7-11 in College Station, TX, when it was first published. It was hard to find back then. None of the LCSs that I frequented (in Houston or College Station) carried any of the Now Comics titles so the 7-11 was the only option for me.

The recent eBay sale that I mentioned in another post notwithstanding, personally, I would buy high grade issues if I could find them. But that's a "me" thing and a "my collection" thing. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that anyone else do the same.

Looks like that's the only one. One 9.8 on the CGC census. None on the CBCS census.

@KCBatmanFan Yep, believe me... I know.

Like I mentioned, that back cover is a KILLER. I'll go snap a picture of one of my copies to let you see what it looks like.

Here you go, @KCBatmanFan. Forgive my crappy photography skills.

The back cover is literally a field of solid black (doesn't show well in this picture) with white lettering and nothing else. And it shows EVERY crease and scuff and fingerprint and dent.

Yeah, wow. There were probably very few NMs off the newsstand with that back cover.
