Online Auction websites that pay the highest prices to seller13703

Collector Defunct private msg quote post Address this user
I have of collection of CGC and CBCS graded comic books ( mostly silver age issues) that I wish to sell
for at least guide prices or higher. In other words, I want to sell my comic books at retail prices ( not wholesale prices). Which Online Auction websites should I use to realize my goal?

@Defunct - Welcome to the forums. No matter where you sell online or through an auction, everyone will take their cut of the profits, including the seller/auction house and even PayPal. You could always post stuff here (read the CBCS selling guidelines first) and see what happens.

It's like the Roach Motel for comic collectors. chester15 private msg quote post Address this user
You could open a comic store! That's quick and easy. They sell at retail - if someone doesn't beat them down on price.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@Defunct - Welcome - I have tested pretty much all of the majors.

If you want to "auction" then I would go with Comiclink.

If you want to "list with fixed prices" but not be bothered with having to package up and ship each individual comic, I would use MyComicShop.com which is Lone Star Comics in TX. And if you later decide to auction anything, you can convert individual listings to auction.

Either way, you package up all your comics at one time, ship to Texas (MyComicShop) or Maine (Comiclink), they do all the photos and marketing. Your fees are typically 8-10% depending upon value (unless you have comics that will hit the 5 or 6 figure catagory).

Cheers.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
If you want the highest prices you should sell your books at fixed price.

This does require more patience.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Also +1. Selling directly will get you the best return.

If you decide to go with the relative ease of auctioning though, I think the cuts are something like:
eBay 10% (assuming you don't have a store that reduces the fee)
using eBay will also hit you with a paypal fee, but then you also get your money faster than waiting for a check from the options below (AFAIK they all send checks or at least offer that option)

mycomicshop/Lone Star Comics 8% (or you can sell to them directly if they're buying your particular issues, but you'll get like 50%) https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics https://www.mycomicshop.com/webuycomics/consignmentterms

comiclink 10% (but could be higher https://www.comiclink.com/services.asp#Selling%20Option%20#1)

comicconnect 10%

heritage 15% (I think; would you believe they don't make it easy to find out?)

Related question, germane to topic...does eBay now report earnings to the IRS?

I dont believe there is a PayPal fee on Ebay anymore. They have their own lame payment system now.

@Nelsconey I think that's a phased thing. Granted the last thing I sold was on Dec 30th but my money was sent to paypal and they took their cut.

Slowly phasing people over. I assumed if one was just starting to sell. They will be enrolled. I cannot stand this new system.
