CBCS Website Update - Store Locator & Turnaround Times13605

| So it looks like the CBCS Main page got a nice holiday makeover. While the Census has a label saying it is "new" that has been available for a few months now. What I found that is actually new though was a Store Locator that lists stores on a map that are authorized to submit to CBCS. Closest one for me is like a hundred miles away so I'll continue mailing mine in directly. Semi-New is a page dedicated to displaying the current turnaround times. Turnaround times have been on the website forever but they've normally been on the pricing page where they can get lost among the rest of the information that is being displayed. It is nice to have the turnaround times cleanly displayed on their own page. Hopefully they can keep it updated and reasonably accurate. |

| Ha!! There is a store just down the street from where my work office is -which I won't see again till late 2021!!!! The history of that store prevents me from going into it though....even with new owners Also funny is there is a store that has 3 locations but the only one offering CBCS is of course the one furthest away rather than either of the other 2 that are only 30 minutes or so from home  still easier I think to submit to the CBCS Canada office |

| I noticed the updates a little bit ago. My two cents: the TAT page is nice as long as they actually update it to reflect reality, and they should take the TATs off the pricing page. The store locator is nice but a) a little weird since one of the draws of CBCS vs CGC for me was that you can send things directly without having a membership/account or going through a store b) I wonder how stores got listed there given that anyone can just send things in. | ||

| wow....ok, ok..so inquiring minds want to know. No banning or anything. The prior owner was a real piece if work....it was sad to even walk into the store he had books on shelves or in racks with no boards or bags and they were almost bent over in half from being jammed into place. Then he would try to charge full price or jack up the price on a new hot book when they were no longer even in the running for 9+..more like 7's. There were also the pre-orders....would claim one price at the beginning then try to charge another when something finally came in. There were also the in-store competitions specifically raffles that people paid only a buck or two to enter but no-one you knew or talked to in the store ever won. Also the cluster f@%k around putting books up for sale on consignment in his store and never knowing if you got ripped off or not.....there's even more too!! Anyway....eventually everyone stopped going to the shop and it moved once or twice...had a name change and then was sold to these new owners (who used to be employees). Store looks better now (although 80% merch and POP figures) but I and anyone who remembers the history have to be real hard pressed to even go through the doors...I even breeze by at the local convention. Maybe once or twice a year I'll check what's on the wall but other than that I can take a pass...I think they get a decent amount of business from tourists (this store is in Niagara Falls) if only because there doesn't appear to be enough current issues on shelf to support regulars with a pull list...I wish them luck but I think they have a ways to go for the local scene to accept them again....store still has a sleazy feel to it and I don't think it's just my bad memories. |
