So I have an Ultimate Spiderman #1 Polybagged comic that I have YET to open up.. I just learned about this.. and I wonder if CBCS would honor that as AUTHENTIC AUTOGRAPH if I so happen to open mine and and it's signed?? Anyways I will film me opening it later tonight. Here are 2 links to read.. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/233702-ultimate-spider-man-1-signed-edition-cgc-98-ss-stan-lee-9100-sold/ https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/2355/Ultimate-Comics-Spider-Man-1/ Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 - What Could Be Better? Posted on 9/14/2011 Marvel’s Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 goes on sale today, the first issue featuring Miles Morales who first appeared in Ultimate Fallout #4 as the all-new Spider-Man! What could be better than that you ask? How about 100 copies signed by Stan Lee and witnessed by CGC. Marvel authorized CGC to witness Stan Lee sign 100 copies of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1. Numbered 1-100, each book will be poly-bagged and sent out randomly today in Marvel’s standard distribution. For distributors receiving this book it will be like getting the golden ticket that you didn’t even know existed. But wait, there’s more! In addition to Lee’s signature, select copies are inscribed, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.” For those receiving one of these variant books there is an extra special bonus – free CGC certification. That’s right - the lucky recipients of those books can submit them to CGC and will receive grading and certification at no charge. This is the first time a distributed copy of a signed comic book is eligible for the Signature Series label. Joe Pierson, CGC’s Signature Series Director, had the pleasure of witnessing Stan Lee sign each book. “We're very excited, not only to work with Marvel Comics, but also to present this great opportunity to put Signature Series label books into the hands of fans and collectors who may be unfamiliar with CGC and Signature Series,” commented Pierson. If you’re one of the fortunate 100 to receive a signed copy of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1, contact CGC Signature Series at 1-877-662-6642 to get submission details. All collectibles certified with the prestigious CGC Signature Series label have been signed in the presence of a CGC representative, and are then submitted for CGC certification. CGC authenticates the signatures and indicates all pertinent information on the CGC Signature Series label. The Signature Series label includes security features such as an official hologram seal and a unique serial number. The item is then graded and encapsulated in CGC’s patented, tamper-evident holder, to become a treasured part of a collection. Thanks to CGC Signature Series, collectors know their signed items bear the seal of the most-trusted name in collecting. The leader in professional third-party comic book, magazine, photograph and lobby card certification, CGC is an independent service and a member of the Certified Collectibles Group (CCG). CGC does not buy or sell collectibles — our sole commitment is to providing an impartial opinion you can always trust. Whether you’re seeking an autograph for a comic book, celebrity photo or magazine, CGC Signature Series guarantees its authenticity. |

@Gabriel85301 I got confused. I was thinking that you meant the book was slabbed already. I think you would still have to have CGC slab it first if you wanted to keep the authentic label. Then you could switch it if you want. @Amspider you won't know until you open it. I got confused. |

I suggest using a sensitive scale and comparing the weight of yours with someone else before opening. If one is slightly heavier than the other...it possibly has the certificate in it. If they are the same weight, no chance. |

It has right there in the text cgc will consider it authenticated and grade it for free. I'm assuming they have some kind of verification paperwork inside the bag that they can track. Kinda makes sense to send it to cgc...free verification with SS label and free grading. |

@Gabriel85301 No CBCS would not honor it as a witnessed signature out of the bag. If CGC slabs it as a witnessed signature then it would likely be slabbed with the date of the signing and could be resubmitted to CBCS for a yellow label. That is assuming CGC is still honoring the offer I imagine it is no more complicated than “only x copies of the book were produced and cgc witnessed them all being signed so any copies received are copies cgc witnessed” |
