CGC Forum drama...

The biggest takeaway for me is that all those PMs were posted; not cool.

But as noted, CGC Forum drama...

Looks like “PM” stands for Public Message on the CGC forum.

If someone put me on public trial and then acted as a false witness I would post their PM's in a heartbeat to clear my name.

Absolutely.

But I just saw the one pm posted, the original one that GG quoted (badly) and then the second guy (nic?) posted the screen shot of same. Were there others? I lost interest after they were both shut down by admins to additional comments, so I haven't been keeping up.

I kept up with the thread somewhat, but I came to the conclusion that the seller was just trying to get others to join in on his pitty party.

If I had been the seller in this instance, I never would have mentioned anything about it... I would have just moved on.

But that's just me.

Did you read the second thread, the one from the buyer? That one really clears things up. The seller misrepresented a number of items in the original thread.

But both threads were locked, and I don't know if it continued in a third one.

No, I didn't know there was a second thread. I would sure like to read it.

I’m not sure about the second thread, but the first thread was heavily redacted. I believe the buyer’s response was completely edited out.

The biggest take away from this? Many people on the CGC boards largely act like bags of vinegar and water.

I love you guys here on the CBCS forums (in a totally brotherly way). Even when I've posted rants and frustrations, you've all acted like adults or been kind to me when I was a newbie.

More reason to never touch CGC with a twenty foot pole. Just my two cents.

Make mine CBCS!

I have had some fun on that board. I think I have told my story here. Basically I put a couple want lists out on the site. Guy contacts me that he has the comic/s. I say how much. He tells me that is not how it works. I reply that if you are the one selling, you have to come up with the price. He says he doesn't want to waste his time taking pictures of the book if I am not serious. I eventually give in and send an offer which he thinks is fair. Next day he tells me his wife doesn't want him to sell the book. He ended up doing this twice to me with 2 separate books lol. I precede to tell him he was a hypocrite complaining about wasting his time which in turn is exactly what he did to me. I then told him to to never contact me again. Week later, I make another want post. He replied to my post. I obviously ignored him.

@moodswing maybe you should of asked him to get his wife to sign up so you can negotiate with the one in charge of the book 👍

@flanders posted it earlier. Here it is.

Here is my summary, after wading through all that crap, of the items the seller misrepresented, in his first complaint thread. (Although it sounds like you sussed it out yourself, even without the additional information.):

GG said, "I will always give discounts, and pretty generous ones sometimes." He did not give a discount in this case; $850 was the advertised price in his own sales thread. (Scroll down to September 9.)

GG said, "...and I will always try and accommodate someone." Some have interpreted the timed payments as an accommodation that only occurred because the buyer "really" wanted this comic. But timed payments was offered in the original sale thread. Anyway, the buyer sold some other comics and paid the balance almost immediately.

GG said, "Had I known his only motivation was to make a fast buck at my expense I would have certainly asked for more, but I thought I was helping a fellow collector achieve some sort of goal." This is not true. The buyer, Nic, paid the asked-for price. This cannot be emphasized enough ... GG is implying that he offered a book for sale, but would refuse any offer that wasn't ... I dunno, meaningful enough, or something.

Anyway, it turns out he was wrong about the motivation, too. Nic wanted the book for his PC. After he bought it, two things happened: 1) Heritage Auctions had a sale of the same book that increased the value by 50%; and 2) Another book, from the same run, came up for sale, and Nic wanted that one more than this one. So he sold this one - for a $400 profit - and immediately plowed that money into another, better comic.

That is exactly what most collectors do, as they work to improve their PC over time.

Since the "monk" in my username is quite literally my vocation, methinks even saying "bags of vinegar and water" is pushing the bounds of what I should be saying.

But ita good to know folks can be a little casual around here. 😁

I will admit, that is what I said. I stooped that low. It was literally the second time he said his wife told him not to sell the books. Has any wife ever said that about their husband selling comics for a decent chunk of change?

Think the only time my wife gets involved with my comics is to bundle them up after I kicked the bucket and ship them off to a Auction house to use the proceeds to go on a long vacation.

I really didn't want to use that word in front of my 14 year old son because I knew that hearing it from me would give him license to say it. But something came up recently in front of him and "that guy was kind of a douche" seemed like the only appropriate response to the situation. Now the kid is off and running with the D word...apparently he comes across human bags of vinegar and water on a regular basis.

^This.^

Now that I see there were THREE threads about this when the first one should have just been deleted & the seller warned, it boggles my mind.

Kooky.

Thanks for the link.

If I understand both threads correctly (which I may have missed something), the $$$ spike that book made at HA happened after the transaction was made between buyer/seller. Yet the seller is making it appear that the buyer was acquiring the book simply to make a quick $$$ flip, when in actuality neither of them would have known the book's spike in value at the time.

Someone please correct me if I'm reading this wrong.

Again,... seems like a seller's pity party.

Oops - you said you didn't know if it continued in a third thread & I misread that as it continuing in a third thread.

How even one thread was permitted boggles the mind; SO toxic.
