| The pack I bought from ebay was 2 worthless books and the strange academy. Given value of the strange academy, the other books should prolly be looked as a buffer to keep the main book from being damaged and that's it.... | ||

| Unsure if its a localized thing or a company wide move, but going to post it just in case. This morning when checking marvel packs at my wal mart I was able to buy in one scoop...three packs with spiderverse 1, two packs with Strange Academy 1, two packs of the Venom 25 variant, three packs with captain marvel 1 artgerm covers, and three packs with the Thor #1 , all with the limited walmart covers that are doing pretty well on the flipping scoreboard. .....I then checked my friend who lives in a town roughly forty miles out and he had made a similar find the evening before. he was going to go out and scour more walmarts in the area, but following morning his wife diagnosed positive with the Covid, and they are now quarantined. I have plans to check a few area stores sunday evening, but this appears to be a restock to purge back inventory for years end perhaps. Your own mileage may vary.....but yeah I have no problem buying up more copies of Strange Academy 1, walmart variant off the store shelf. | ||

| Ive got a CGC 9.4 and 9.8 of Strange Academy 1 Walmart to be sold soon. I submitted 3 pressed copies I bought at the local Walmart. I’m keeping a 9.8 and selling the other two. I’ll be losing a little on the 9.4, but that’s the game. I now wish I would’ve submitted more through CBCS, but that’s another story. |

| So this all just got very complicated. Since I had bought all those new packs from walmart I spent some time today sifting through them. I can confirm that Strange Academy 1 in this wave has blue writing for the word Strange. Further, the Venom 25 now has the word Venom in Purple, not white. Spiderverse 1 now has the title in white, instead of light blue. Thor 1 is now in black rather than red. Even more complex, the bar codes appear to be the same for these issues....so normally where you look at the final number in the bar code for a printing number, these appear the same as the previous wave despite the new colorings. Even more fun to be had, inside the packs...most of them contain the Marvel Lenticular homage versions that were part of the 46 covers in that wave...I found so far a Luke Cage 1 homage, An amazing spiderman 39 homage, an Iron Fist 14 homage....one pack had a variant for Fantastic four 1, and the rest all had a Die cut, cardboard cover version of Spiderwoman 1, that looks like this. Tempted to call these second printings of the walmart variants except the bar codes do not support that .....but they all have subtle changes to the colorings for the logos. Stay tuned for more fun adventures !  |

| The indicia page has nothing useful to suggest a clue...except the date on the new books seems to be January 1, 2021, which the older books wouldnt have had I assume. Still that gives nothing for what printing or version it is either. It almost seems like they said...these are low print runs, and these were the hot books so lets cash in again. Change the color of the logo and do another print run without altering anything else |

| The choice is more complicated, and depends on your ....take on it all. You can pay scalpers prices on ebay and the flipper scene for the red, which came out some time back or pay the package price at walmart for three comics including a blue label Strange Academy 1....or a purple label Venom 25, or a white label Spiderverse 1. I also think the original wave would tend to be the one to speculate with, but then again, if this wave turns out to be more limited than the previous one and IF the only difference is color text on the cover, you could be looking at a variant with a smaller print run than the original series, or also possibly larger...there is alot of missing information at the moment we dont have. For a book like Spiderverse 1, which is the introduction of Spider Zero, a potential key character, the walmart variant was the only version where she appears on the cover apparently. If the new wave becomes simply an additional cover variant of issue 1, it would seem like it would price more highly than other versions aside from the original walmart 1 variant. Conversely a book like Venom 25 is also complex for other reasons...apparently the introduction of at least two characters, the cover is an homage to Amazing spiderman 300....but is a black cover which makes finding higher grade copies a fun chase. Then you have the option of the first wave white text or 2nd wave purple, which actually looks more appealing to me Strange Academy introduces something like 35 characters at least....the walmart variants have different colored backgrounds than other versions. However, the first wave had red text, the new one is blue. Is it as simple as flipping a coin? |

| I’ve looked at the indicia in both venom variants. Both have different publication dates AND manufacture(print) dates. officially indicating a 1st & 2nd print. White trade dress: publication date - September 2020. Manufactured between 6/19/2020 & 6/29/2020. This print coincides with the standard 2nd printing. Purple/blue trade dress: publication date - January 2021. Manufactured between 10/16/2020 & 10/26/2020. This print coincides with the standard 5th printing. Both Walmart covers manufactured by Fry Communications. Venom 25 with White trade dress   Venom 25 Purple/Blue trade dress   |

| It does create a rather large problem if correct......................... Since these books are newstand copies basically they are bar coded. The final digit in the bar code has historically and always indicated the printing. The problem I see is that number is consistent for both versions of each of these books. That conflicts with how the bar code has worked for comics for the quite a few years In the case of the two versions of Venom 25 the number is 7 for BOTH books. Not first nor second, nor 5th prints. So while the publication data implies different printings, the bar coding does not support that information. Or it makes the apperance that despite being different printings, the coding is being done as the same one |
