I grew up Portland-adjacent. On the less regarded East side. But I made it out!

When I picked up my Chinese food order for New Years this afternoon, the line for the UPS Store that is next to the restaurant was three times longer than the food pickup line. So it hasn’t slowed down for them yet, anyway.

Update on my packages

I started out with 21 packages stuck in the USPS gridlock, with ship dates ranging from 11/24 to 12/12. I'm down to five packages now. Four of the five have shown movement, so I no longer worry as much that they are actually lost/stolen. The movement being they show having arrived and departed the Evansville Regional Distribution center. IDK if I mentioned it earlier, but about a dozen of the 21 packages - everything shipped 12/4 and later - showed only an acceptance scan by the carrier. For all you knew based on tracking, the carrier still had these packages in their truck for weeks.

So anyway, four out of the remaining five have been scanned arriving and departing the Evansville Regional Distribution center in the past week.

The package in limbo is a submission to CGC. I shipped two packages on Dec 7 - one to CBCS and one to CGC. The CBCS package was delivered a few days ago. The CGC package still shows only the acceptance scan on 12/7.

So I did the missing mail form online today. In one week if the package isn't at least moving I'll file the insurance claim. Praying it doesn't come to that, since these - like nearly all my submissions to grading companies - are client's books. A fair amount of insurance and the package requires a signature, so hopefully they would look hard before writing a check.

Assuming this one package eventually gets delivered, it's still one heck of a delay. Adding to the delay on this package will be CGC itself. Receiving at CGC has been greatly backed up (another reason to use CBCS) and it's taking at least one and typically two weeks just for CGC receiving to open boxes and get books out and entered into their workflow management system. Which is when the TAT clock starts ticking. One of the submissions in the box was a standard tier. 15 business day TAT. In normal times, these books would be done and on their way back to their owner right about now.

I'm currently having an issue with a delayed/missing package with USPS that was shipped priority mail from Los Angeles to Louisville on 2-16. No updates since 2-17 when it was processed through a facility in LA. I'm hoping in turns up by the 15 day period from the date of delivery as I've never had to file a claim before. So far the buyer on Ebay is understandable and isn't a pain in the neck nagging me with unnecessary questions and nonsense. I'll update if it turns up, I'm assuming that things are very backed up everywhere due to the storm, however my 6 other package that were mailed either around the same time or at a later date have all arrived at their destination in various parts of Texas and the East Coast.

My package from 2-16 is in limbo too. It was a cheap sketch by Bruce Timm but I was looking forward to getting it before the month ends.

I’ve got 3 packages that haven’t updated in days totally $3000 in value.

All shipped the 19th, 21st & 23rd & they haven’t progressed passed Sacramento, which is only an hour away.

Tracking indicates a delay due to severe weather but I think locally, it has to do with understaffing.

I hope my buyers don’t freak out. I shipped the books within 24 hours. I sure hope they understand that the snail’s pace in transit has nothing to do with me.

It's hit or miss. I've had a few packages move normally, including one down to CBCS. I have one heading to more eastern Texas that was marked as being at my post office on the 19th then nothing until it was magically in Louisiana on the 25th.

I bought some window parts that shipped in a padded envelope. They took forever (one week) just to leave the state of Massachusetts on the way to Tennessee.

Given usps is behind, at what point should we become concerned enough to start a request for usps to start trying to track the package themselves?

Typically, I wait a week after there’s no movement. Then once I file, by coincidence, the package moves within 24 hours.

It has happened 2-3 times recently.

I have one shipment that was never received by the Post Office two weeks ago, and another shipment that has been detoured through Puerto Rico. Apparently the snow storm is worse than Covid for logistics. Hard to be pissed with everything going on, but definitely frustrating.

So I put in a request to look into the status last night and this morning it arrives in my city. Go figure on the coincidence..... =)

I know that there was no mail delivery down in this part of Texas for almost a week during the storm. Most everything I have sent out is getting jammed up in Dallas I believe. I have all but one customer that is understanding. I have one that emails me twice a day for some kind of update and wondering what I'm doing as far as contacting the post office. It's a lighter which is in a small box. I was told previously when everything was really bad that the small items are getting left behind in the warehouse to get the bigger items out to make room.

2 out of 3 of my packages have updated & are much closer to being delivered. Fortunately, these are the more expensive of the two.

@Puckster There's not a lot that makes me truly angry, but this would do it for me. Just reading it makes my blood pressure rise. At some point it's harassment. I would be inclined to forward all the messages to Ebay after it's over, and include the word harassment.

That is ridiculous. I know when I contacted my seller I emphasized it was a deficit with USPS and not his fault. How can anybody blame the seller once they dropped the item off to the post office? Some folks need a serious reality check to understand life isn't a silver spoon with everyone at your beck and call.....

Still nothing and my "missing mail" request has resulted in an automated response and the request being closed. I was hoping for an actual attempt to find the item. Looks like it's lost and unfortunately I didn't insure the item above $50 so I'll lose out on about another $50 from the sale. I doubt it will turn up at this point but I'll be filing a USPS claim tomorrow since the 15 day waiting period will have passed. rnrnI'm planning on refunding the buyer in full tomorrow but should I wait to file a claim first? Any luck with packages showing up after a claim has been filed? Thanks. It's my first time filing a claim.

I bought a comic back in late January and the seller shipped it back on Feb. 2.

I emailed him about a week ago and just let him know and asked if he had heard anything or had any additional information.

He told me he used stamps and mailed it from his place.

Luckily, it isn’t a high dollar book, but I’m going to give it another month and I may just have to let ebay know.

I know the USPS is behind, especially in the DFW area, but isn’t a month a little on the longer side of the scale here?

The struggle is (still) real. My shipment detoured through Puerto Rico finally arrived, but I have one coming that made it four hours away to Memphis, but then was shipped out of state and has not moved in three days.

Last week I used USPS Priority Mail to ship some comics to a forum member in CA (from RI). Although the expected delivery date was originally listed as this Monday, the package arrived safely last weekend - so it took 3 days (which is normal for RI to CA). Today I am shipping a book by USPS Priority Mail to a forum member in TX. I will let you know how that works out.

It's been 5 days since I filed a claim for a USPS Priority mail package that was shipped on 2-16. I received this update minutes ago:

Hopefully it's not lost again between there and the destination.

Been meaning to update.

Got my comic on March 4.

Wow!

I’m not sure if personally stamped mail is treated differently, but that’s the only book I’ve had that’s been really late through this.

I’ll still support the USPS, but I hate that they are struggling right now.

On a positive note: my JLA copy got delivered to the wrong address and my mail carrier found it and personally handed it to me to make sure I got it.

I never even knew it was lost!

I guess all those years of saying “hi” and being nice paid off!
