Best score this year. Been hunting a copy for 15 years. I don't do eBay so it's harder. Almost bought a ped copy in 8.5 15 years ago but opted to buy a FF 4 in 3.5 for same money. Better result as early FF have gone up in price.
Saw a copy on a dealers wall 2 years ago at a con. Worse condition then this with a $350 price tag ouch.
Then one of my locals had this copy for $75 yep pulled the trigger with no hesitation.

Breaking Gnus:

Addition to my Best of 2020 is this recently snagged upgrade of Marvel Mystery #46 on right...

Gotta say, these Schomburg twins are a whole new level of eye-popping displayed side by side!

Can the restoration be removed on the purple one? How bad is it?

Moderate. Given the high quality of work done I wouldn't consider altering it. With professional grading and disclosure being what it is today restoration shouldn't be as much of a concern for collectors. And preservation is preferable to the ravages of time having all the advantage.

My suspicion is that the comic collecting community will eventually grow to appreciate the value of professional restoration as much as collectors of other rare paper ephemera (early maps, vintage movie & advertising posters, historical documents, rare books, etc.).

I did pull this one for my personal collection from a recent collection purchase. It’s at CGC as we speak awaiting Press & Grade.

And after probably a year or two of searching, I finally got one of these as a gift for a friend of mine who is a huge Godzilla fan. It’s a two page newsprint promo handed out at theaters in 1976. It’s considered the first American comic appearance of Godzilla.

I wish it was in better shape, but I’m happy to have got one for him.

I’ve got to add this one to my “best of” fir the year. Coincidentally, also TOS 39 related.
