wow I didn't even think about that. Key books were getting major boosts from theater releases. I wonder if that cookie is forever crumbled?

I think theaters are going to have to offer a membership to stay in business. A monthly streaming fee that allows a certain number of admissions to the theater as well.

Buying individual tickets always being an option, but a monthly membership fee would keep revenue coming in.

Why would the theaters invest in it? The studios are already moving in that direction and the past year has just caused them to move faster. All another 6 to 12 months of reduced theater capacity will do is solidify the idea that people don't need to go to the theaters to watch a new release.

The writing is on the wall. Theaters are done.

With that being said, I know my family isn't going to invest in multiple different streaming services to watch new movies. Yep, we have Disney Plus but that is due to their children's content. We aren't going to shell out more monthly dollars to subscribe to HBO Max to watch DC crap movies, money to Netflix, and other services. We'd be back to the monthly cable bill total all over again.

It was a one trick pony show but always hilarious. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
I'm not sure what monthly cable bills cost in the USA but here, my monthly cable bill was slightly more than $100.

I cut the cord and have streaming services only. I've got Disny+, Netflix, Prime and Curiosity Stream and it's way less than what I paid for cable. When I'm able to get HBO Max a la carte I'm definitely getting it.

@GAC I'm the same. Streaming is great being that I watch what I want to watch whenever I feel like watching. That convenience alone puts streaming in a league of its own.

I have Amazon, acorn, netflix, britbox, hulu, disney plus and hbo and will be getting hbo max. And for sport I'm from Australia so watch NRL overseas to watch my football. 👍

@GAC

I think it depends on what you watch and where. The idea behind cutting the cable bill was to shift that money to other places. Moving it back into the entertainment field isn't what I'm looking to do. There are other considerations when dealing with AT&T too.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
I'm looking forward to maybe 10 years from now when people are in exactly this boat, subscribing to five or more streaming services just so they can watch the DC shows and movies here, Marvel there, some other TV show on the other one, etc. "Why can't I have all this in one place???" they'll cry. And someone will figure out a way to offer a streaming bundle. "Here's everything you want in one place!" they'll advertise. Of course, they'll still have a bunch of stuff you don't want but have to pay for to make the money work. The mental gymnastics that people will go through to say it isn't the same thing as cable will be amazing. It'll be like when the tech folks out west reinvented buses.

Yeah, that’s the only reason I have it. I needed to add a data plan to my tablet & coincidentally, HBO MAX just happened to be part of the package.
