Yea... it is chancy with crummy pics. But if you ask for new ones they replace the crummy ones with the new ones and then there goes the closing price up up & away.

So I play the game now that if books are around $5 then I take the risk for a cup of Starbucks. It's better to take the $5/7/10 risk than it is to have them fix the pictures.
These two Shreks finished somewhere around 7 or 8 dollars

If alot more money is involved, then I will not pull the handle on the one-armed bandit, bite the bullet, and ask for new pics

@Nuffsaid111 I hear you, I use the same logic. 5yrs ago I didn’t care as much because newsstands felt more plentiful, and it was a fun restriction to make the chase more challenging. Now more people are aware of the rarity. While digging in some boxes at NYCC I actually heard someone specifically ask the dealer if they had a newsstand section.

Congrats on the price you paid. I love seeing a nice haul.

I'll try and post some newsstand EC reprints soon - I've been busy on a new project lately I'm writing a new book for Amazon again this time it's about turtle toys. Going to make an annual price guide and highlight ultra rares and prototypes/customs

Astonishing X-Men 4.
1st appearance of Armor

I’ve been searching for this one for some time. I’m glad I found it before it becomes more difficult. Marvel announced she’s going to be the focus in the new Ultimate X-men series by Peach Momoko

I have an entire box of these super high grade EC Comics reprints - almost a full run of every title in newstand form:

@Hcanes I'm glad you found a nice copy and I hope the books pops. The X-Men used to be so good. Maybe I'm just getting too old but Armor and Peach Momoko on an X-Men run just doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

@drmccoy74 thanks.

I have not enjoyed an X-men book in a while. I maybe in the minority but I didn’t/don’t like the direction Hickman took the franchise.

Armor has a decent skill set I’m interested to see how her Ultimate line interprets and expands on her powers.

Star Wars: Republic #75 NEWSSTAND EDITION CGC 9.4

As far as I can see, this is the only newssstand copy of this book graded by CGC.

Curious what other boardies think of my pricing?

https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=59886042

I just got notified from MCS it was ready to be priced or set to auction , going to email them requesting “NEWSSTAND EDITION “ be added to the listing title.

No idea if this book was pressed or not but it isn’t a 9.8 CPR candidate based on the handful of small color breaking spine tics I see above the “STAR WARS” newsstand UPC box.

@ComicHoarder I am not familiar with the Star Wars comics. I do know that once a character is announced for the shows, their first appearance pops.

If there are any first appearances I’d set the price a little high and then lower the negotiation percentage or whatever MCS calls it when you set the price for your book.

I would also email them to make sure it’s listed as a newsstand so that people on eBay can find it if searching for newsstands.

I had a Transformers UK 1 in MCS that I set the value high because I didn’t have enough cost precedents and then I put a best price % I was comfortable with.

End of day as long as you make more than you spent that’s a win in my book

Looks like I have a Punisher #4 (2011) newsstand as well. Where, besides eBay, do you look for values? Thanks.

@x860x for otherwise unimportant comics, eBay is going to be your only recourse. I can't imagine people are slabbing or selling this much so it likely isn't going to be on another auction site or gpanalysis or anything.

Agreed. These late modern newsstand editions aren’t typically worth a lot. When the direct edition is a dollar bin book, the newsstand edition is maybe $5; a huge markup by % but still not very valuable overall. It’s the key issues that really stand out as “extra” special in newsstand, fetching some crazy values.

This was so bad from the concept, to the art, and I’m sure the story, that I had to have it for $1

I bought this one straight off the newsstand back in ‘18, lol. Barnes & Noble if I recall correctly. Fresh back from grading and CBCS notated “Newsstand Edition” on it! It’s about time! Great job, CBCS!
