i dont know how he did it. i sold on the bay a 9.8 yellow label danger girl 9.8 witnessed sigs by natali sanders and jsc. he claims it arrived damaged. the two pictures showed a wavy label. this has never happened so i said sure, i can send it cbcs to have them re-slab and inspect for book damage. NOPE! well i get it back today and to my amazement, the case has NOT been cracked at all. but its clear as day the whole inner sleeve was removed. i pull it out and the sleeve and label have been jaggedly cut. beware fellas!

nothing. i sent ebay a mail about the claim as soon as i opened it and saw the cut marks. 10 minutes later they side with him. my guess is either a book swap or a cgc shill. i lost a 9.8 yellow label, i bet hes happy book is in perfect condition though, ill maybe sell it raw now i dont know

Did he return the same book or swapped it out for another. What's a CGC shill?

I was sold a fake Star Wars #1 variant through eBay. Sent it to CGC and they stated in the label it wasn't tge variant edition. Filed a claim with eBay and they ruled against me. I had to spend an hour on hold and 30 more minutes to explain the situation with an eBay representative to get my money back.

its the same book. with two signatures on it and the pictures i have of it, the signatures are in the exact same spots, same lengths, to my untrained eye its the same book. maybe he had a few of those books laying around and wants to push the price up? maybe he hates cbcs? maybe hes just one of those guys, i dont know. but im out 134$ because of this clown

To better clarify, was this a Raw SW #1 sold to you as a variant and you then sent it for grading and encapsulation?

I'd call Ebay. The item that was returned isn't in the same condition as when it was delivered. I think the Ebay Money Back Guarantee for buyers only applies if the item returned is undamaged. Granted, my only time dealing with Ebay was a disaster and it didn't go my way.

Call ebay rep, they can reverse the decision as this seems to fit there fraudulent policy.

Yes, it was a raw SW sold to me. The point was that eBay customer service can overturn the automated claim department. Its a pain to get hold of them though.

Strange situation! Is comic still sealed in inner sleeve, or is it open now? Why not try contacting CBCS about Reholder options?

I would wager that it wouldn't retain it's witnessed signature status and would be regraded with a verified signature notation on the label.

This is why I don't sell high valued books. I'd be super pissed if someone returned a different book instead of what was sold to them.

It was the SW 1 35 cent variant. He took a 30 cent edition and somehow bleached the 0 out and put a 5 in its place. Very professional looking except if you had a copy to compare it to then you could tell a slight difference in the 5 when they were side by side.

Thanks for the heads up on this guy. It doesn't look like the case was damaged at all with the book was removed from the slab.

Thanks for posting this. I'm not a star wars collector or 35 cents edition collector so I wasn't aware of this type of scam. Hopefully you weren't out too much money.

I'm trying to get my head around this. The theory is that the buyer cut the sleeve in a way that would separate the label, but did not in any way damage the case? Certainly there would be easier ways to damage a book in order to file a return so just returning the book is not motive enough. So the best theory on motive is to nullify a CBCS verified signature?

@SupaCor there's plenty of youtube videos on how to remove an older CBCS slab without cracking. However, there's no way around the inner sleeve without using a razor blade to slice it open. I'm assuming he was trying to swap out a lower graded copy with fake signatures and screwed it up somehow, or he actually swapped it and that isn't the book you sold.

yea the case looks fantastic. i did some youtubing last night too, even tried it on an older book. you can get it all out in one piece. the inner mylar will get some bends to it, but its one piece. i cant figure out why he did it. just a crappy person i suppose. i hate that so many of us have horror stories about getting jerked over

calling ebay is such a pain. since the world broke you cant just call them up. they will call you back. we'll see how it goes today. i just got about 15 moderns back, 9.8 and 9.6 pre screens. while they are all about 35-45$ books, im hesitant to list on ebay now.
