CLZ Database vs. CovrPrice12728

How do I know this? Because I've done it myself. lawguy1977 private msg quote post Address this user
Curious to know people's thoughts on the two databases for keeping track of your collection. I've been using CLZ for a couple years, and I like it fine, but it appears that CovrPrice provides values for raw comics. Has anyone used CovrPrice for tracking their collection? Thoughts?

I have used both for my business, but I prefer CovrPrice due to the tracked raw values. It gives you a gauge of pricing a book for what it actually will sell for vs scanning Ebay for listings. Certainly Ebay gets the random $40 paid for a facsimile book, but checking CovrPrice you'll find the same book averaging $5.

It gets harder for new releases like Captain Marvel 18 which changed prices by the minute, but overall I find CovrPrice to be very fair in pricing compared to other companies.

I prefer CLZ for cataloging and tracking for sure. If I ever want to get a raw comic price that I'm not sure about the free tier of CovrPrice has worked well for me.

I use both and they are good sources to organize and estimate value for your collection.

What confuses me about Covrprice is where do they get the data to determine the raw and graded values? GoCollect has source links to the auction pages the books are sold from like eBay, Heritage, ComicConnect etc and getting better with it.

On Covrprice, I see dates and some listings will say a grade next to a value but there is no source links to tell us where the transaction occurred. Also, what constitutes a "Hot" book? The icon next to Thor #6 makes sense but why is Strange Tales #162 a "Hot" book? And the % under the book indicates the value increased from what base price?

I'm curious if anyone has these thoughts too. I'm sure it's some kind algorithm but want to understand how they get their values.

CLZ for me. I'm not sure but CovrPrice doesn't show all of the new variant covers for a book. For example, I didn't see any variant covers for Strange Academy? Also I don't think if I switched over to CovrPrice I could import any kind of a list and would have to start over inputting thousands of books to their database... no thanks.

Clz’s prices are a joke; overall good cataloging but still missing rarer old books i own. Missing modern variants, as well. No one is perfect
