I need an education on Comiclink.com and Comicconnect.com12673

What should I know about Comiclink and Comicconnect? I'm thinking of bidding in some auctions but I don't know them. I bought a couple raws through one of them years ago and was severely disappointed, but I can't remember which one. Is one significantly better than the other? Surprise charges and disappointments? I think one of them charges a buyers premium? Thanks for any education you can share.

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
Comiclink: 3% buyer's premium, annoying inability to add items to a watch list, no back cover scans, shipping based on # slabs purchased. Looking at my previous orders it cost $30 to ship 9 slabs, $20 to ship 2 slabs and I believe this is the cost for up to 3 slabs. I'm not sure about charges for raw comics.

Comic Connect: No buyer's premium, ability to add items to watchlist, usually has scans of front and back covers, overgrades raw comics, higher shipping charges than comiclink although I do not know the exact charges.

Shipping charges are annoying but only b/c I've been spoiled by MCS. They seem reasonable when you take MCS out of the equation.

I've bought far more on comiclink in the past (no raw comics), mostly because it took them longer than comicconnect to start charging sales tax to California. I'm more familiar how the bidding works on comiclink and at times it's advantageous to bid early when the bid increments start going to $25 or more.

scroll down a bit on the comic connect link and you'll see their bid increments.

You were disappointed with raw comics you bought? That was probably Comic Connect, mainly because I don’t think Comic Link deals in raws, not that I’ve ever noticed. If you buy from comic connect, just except it to take awhile for your comics to show up. I’m still waiting for a couple of orders I bought about a month ago.

Comiclink charges $20.00 shipping on 1-5 comic books and $20.00 for original art. They do not combine shipping.

mycomicshop.com charges $4.95 for 1-5 comic books (even graded books) and $4.95 for original art AND they combine shipping.

I think it was. I wanted 2 books, but I added 2 more since I was already paying significant shipping. The 2 books I wanted turned out to be no longer available so I only got the two books that I wasn't all that excited about...and paid the full shipping. One was poorly graded, the second was poorly graded and color touched. It was a disappointment on several levels. But this was over 10 years ago.

Regarding MCS, I've been buying almost as much from MCS as I've been selling through them. I'm paying a 3% buyers commission unnecessarily, does anyone know how to change your payment preference from check to MCS credit temporarily? And can you reverse course and request a check if your MCS credit balance gets too high?

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user

@EbaySeller just send an email to Este. She will switch you payment preference upon request. And she told me i can revert and have excess balance sent out again by emailing her.

The Link will waive the "buyer's premium" or whatever it's called if you pay by check/money order within 7 days I believe. This is how I pay them because I refuse to pay the credit card fee which is essentially what it is.

I don't recall buying raw comics on Comic Connect but I probably wouldn't from what I've heard and it's been years since I bought anything on there.

@EbaySeller I have had fantastic results buying and selling original art through Comiclink. Never one problem and I have used them & Heritage for many years. Hope that helps some!

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
As far as I know, neither site takes books in hand until someone buys them. So raws are basically graded by the owner and thus you have to take it with the same grain of salt that you take any other raw. That said, to the extent that I've paid attention, I've never seen a raw book in a ComicLink auction. Maybe their BIN items.

ComicConnect puts an annoying ComicConnect sticker on the back of slabs that I've heard is hard to take off (haven't bought from them myself).

I've won auctions on ComicLink a few times and have no complaints. Shipping is a little slow compared to MCS or sometimes eBay because books have to go from the seller to CL to you, but it isn't excessive.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user

The Comic Connect stickers are easy to remove. Once in a blue moon you end up with one of their own books with a Metropolis sticker. The Metropolis stickers are much harder to get rid of.

Comic link is easy to sell and buy through. Their fees are less than the other big auction house. Also, it takes 30 days for a check to be cut after an auction closes. That's not a bad turn-a-round time. I recommend them and have never had an issue in my dealings with them.

I'm looking for another option to purchase from beyond Ebay, MCS, and more recently Dave and Adams website. Based on the feedback here it looks like Comiclink gets the nod. Thanks all for the input.

They are the same fruit, just on different branches. Comic Connect is Metropolis Comics.

It does kind of look like Comicconnect actually has quite a bit more of the inventory that I was searching for. Is there typically a big difference between the two in items available for sale?

CL does have raws in their auctions, not many but some. For their auctions, they already have the books, for their exchange, they don't.
