I understand completely why it's not exactly the same, but it's also not a complete opposite. They each would shift the demand curve for different reasons. The PGX demand curve would be well left of the CBCS curve, but it would be foolish to say that the label has 0 impact on demand.

So an Action comics #1 9.0 graded by cgc, with their current label would be more valuable than the same comic removed from cgc case, and then put in cbcs case with current label?
Well to all who believe that send me your lists of comics with the current cbcs label, and I will buy them at a reduced value based on the assumption the label affects the true value, and not the respected grading service.

I think it was 11 days from the time they recieved to grading email notification to be exact. By all means move my stuff to the front of the line, because in the end, months or years from now none of the label stuff will make a difference in the value of my books. No one is going to look at the cbcs label now, then, or the future label and say, "No sir, I won't buy it or collect that comic book due to the label."
BTW I have two larger orders as well in the 8 to 12 week window, please move them up for grading as well. Thanks peace out (mic drop)

I won't buy a book with the current label.

You meant @reggieb, I'll assume.

@MR_SigS yes. I just know you probably know all the past discrepancies with pgx better than I, and could really explain why a cbcs label vs. PGX is nor even on the same playing field.

Clearly the book itself makes a difference, a 9.0 AC #1 derives its value predominantly from the book contained. I would say that yes, the value would be different for most books, but maybe not that one. I don't know by how much the label affects the value.

But it's probably a fixed amount, not a percentage. That is, it's probably somewhere around the cost of a re-slab, not exactly the price of a re-slab, because there are some people (albeit probably a small number) that are completely OK with the current label, those that just wouldn't buy it, and those that would re-slab it, for that group they would discount the value by cost of reslab + whatever they value the amount of time that service takes.

So you have less demand, so the price drops. But it's not like it drops 10% of the value or something. It's probably like $20-30 or something like that (note I've not done anything to actually quantify the drop in value, I'm just pulling it out of my head - but that's not relevant to my point). For an AC #1 that's a drop in the bucket - and a re-slab would be 100% worth it for that book, so it probably won't affect value at all. For a modern it's a different story.

I probably wouldn't either, unless it was a great deal on a book I really want, and I'd just assume I can re-slab it later.

I only have a few slabs. When I decided to send a couple of my own books in for grading I chose CBCS, partially because of the aesthetics. Simply, I like the label better. I assumed CBCS and CGC were at least equal in their grading quality. When I got the slabs back...with the new label...I was surprised and disappointed. The new label is less professional and the font is less readable. I also find it odd that the website headers have not been changed to show the new labels. They only show the original ones. Short of a tremendous deal, I won't purchase a slabbed book with the current label.

If you're still looking for opinions, the original label is far better than any of the new contenders. And I'm looking forward to seeing label version 3.

PGX could have the greatest label I've ever seen, making me melt with warm fuzzy feelings. But I'd likely pass it up.

CBCS and CGC (non wavy era) labels makes no difference to me. I crack out most of my books, so the label means squat.

I buy the book.

Nice logo. A futile effort, though, since they will double-down on an "ok" one. I am at least optimistic that the overall label will look nicer than the "what were you thinking" rivet version.

Any updates on the label? Remember, "No update is an update" and that's perfectly fine.

There are still things I like about CBCS over CGC. Autographed book recognition is one and free notes are two of the best services. I like being able to scan the QR code and get the notes before purchasing.

Just used the QR code service this past week to buy a signed book. Meant the world to me to have the (free) notes so easily available.
