I have a few books that have the old label and wanted to submit for press and regrade. Im curious as to if anyone had a decrease in grade from doing this? Im hoping the rumors of extreme harsh grading during the past were true. |

I have 0 personal experience with this but I've heard that it wasn't necessarily harsher grading but more of a lack of CPR back then. I could be wrong though 🤷🏻‍♂️.

@AndyRexia I have had one book downgraded a full point and that was an awful feeling. Although I know there is a gamble with these books, I guess I'm looking for someone to help push me to do it. In theory, the amount I paid for the books is low enough to where it shouldn't matter too much though..... Forgot one. |

Are you looking to just get them slabbed in the updated cgc slab? Just submit them for reholder service and there is no regrade and worry about the grade going down.

@Bronte good luck with making your choice. That's a tough one. Do the books have pressable defects?

@Bronte You had an older label come back lower? As far as 181, would need to see what the notes say. |

@psucl99 No. I wanted to press and regrade. Hoping for a higher grade. |

@moodswing Sorry for confusion. No the book that got graded lower was a modern CGC. I was just saying it sucked. |

In regards to the other books, I have no idea if they have pressable defects. I looked and the Spider-man 6 looks like a couple of possible wrinkles. But to be honest, I am the world's worst grader. I leave that to others. My thoughts are send them in and pray. Each book was purchased for a fraction of what they are worth now. All were lower than 800$ each, so as long as I dont get a restored grade, I would not take a loss... |

Not quite the same thing, but I had a Nyx 3 in 9.6 CGC, newer blue label, not the old label. Sent it to be cracked and signed by Middleton, then pressed and regraded with CGC SS label (yellow). It went down to a 9.4 CGC SS. Starting to believe it all depends on who you get and whether they are having a good/bad day. On a more related note, I too have a Hulk 181 in the same old CGC label as your copy. Have been wondering myself if it could go higher, but scared to have a loss in grade (like the Nyx 3 I mentioned above), as that would result in major loss in value. Let us know what you decide to do. |

I know people who’ve gotten lower grades; usually presser’s fault because notes refer to stress or tearing at the staples.

I've had them stay the same even when the presentation of the book improved. I haven't had one drop, but I have always used a reputable presser with years and years of experience.

@Tdog13 Cracking books for SS is a crap shoot. I doubt the person signing it really cares what grade you will get. All kinds of opportunities for the book to get damaged. |

@DrWatson I would be using CCS or whatever CGCs sister company is. Although I had 1 book drop in grade, they did CPR 6 amazing Spider-man 194 books and the results were better than I could have hoped. |

Got a few CGC damaged slabs going in and a cover that looks awful due to Newtons. Hoping they dont drop grades. Ive also picked up a 9.8 old case CGC of Killing Joke which im wanting to crack for Bolland but theres either scuff marks to the back of the comic or the inner wall of the case. Really hope its not the comic as Id presume it will drop significantly if it is.

I have had a few of these with both CGC and CBCS. And as far as I can tell from the grader notes, nothing changed.

@Bronte I think your chances of them coming back with grade bumps is higher. You can always do a prescreen, it's like $10 and they can determine if they feel a book would benefit From a press, still no guarantee But I think when they say it would benefit=grade bump. From what I see they all would get higher grades.
