This thread is making me nervous. I had Canada Post tracking report my 8 books were delivered yesterday, but nothing on here to indicate the package is being handled. It could be sitting under a desk somewhere collecting dust. The whole process is a bit murky. I really had to hunt to get the Oakville address (that it was being handled in Canada was the only reason I didn't try CGC - dealing with customs is a huge pain). What is the point of CBCS Canada if these packages end up going to Dallas anyhow? I have another 17 to be graded. Think I'll hold off until I hear something about current submission. |

I really appreciate it as I would have hated to have it turned back to you guys because of the address. have a great week and I'm excited to see the books! |

Our books don't show as received/processing until they reach Dallas. CBCS Canada is not at the level is once was as there are no staff on site in Oakville right now as the CBCS Canada staff live in the US (can can't currently get here!) My issue with CBCS Canada is just how long does it take to get to Dallas or our books to come back from Dallas?? My March 10th order was received in Oakville but is still not showing...do shipments to the US happen every 2 weeks, once per month?? how long is the receiving process in Dallas?? Like wise I had an order go to 'ShipToCanada' on March 12th...so again...does it ship up here once a month?? is it a certain # or orders before it comes here. With the current lockdown...just how quick are the guys in Oakville at forwarding our books to us?? All questions with no answers |

@cwazywabbit It was a great idea, still saving you from dealing with customs and FedEx asking for money to customs clear stuff you own and ideally save shipping costs for you. No one knew that the coof would turn the process into a poop pile. It wouldn't be cost effective to duplicate the Dallas infrastructure in Canada. I sent my very first submission in May 2020, I think it arrived in Dallas in August and then kudos to them as I believe they fast tracked those as they flew through the system once they got to Dallas. I just got them back recently as they did wait quite a while sitting as ShipToCanada. I did notice my last shipment to the Canada office actually made it quite quickly to Dallas (<25 days). My personal solution, ship direct to Dallas (shipping isn't that bad), get fast pressing and fast grading. Turnaround is pretty darn quick that way. Downside is shipping cost back and FedEx fees. Use the Canada office for stuff you are in no hurry for. |

I wonder why CBCS or CGC has not opened up an actual grading location in Canada already? You would think that shipping a couple thousand pre-made empty slabs from the U.S. to Canada to use, and having some grading/cleaning staff here would be a great way to get in more Canadian customers. Not only would it allow Canadian customers to get their books at a faster rate, and, give Canadian customers a piece of mind knowing their books don't ever leave Canada, but nobody here would have to waste time and money with border crossings or extra shipping charges. Heck, Businesses are open in Saskatchewan, keep staff 8ft apart, masks, cleaning crew...etc...etc..., everyone get's their own desk/area. Buy a little building with storage in Saskatoon, SK, Hire some trained grading/cleaning staff, Hire my buddy that can press comics, match my salary/benefits and I'll stop managing my shop and go manage CBCS Canada instead, and being Saskatchewan is practically in the middle of the country, shipping is decent both ways, did I mention no duty charges or dealing with border crossings? Plus, I find that Canada Post is a way more reliable and easier to use shipping service than Ups and Fedex, etc...etc...they're still not perfect, but I find them to be a lot more reliable and their tracking seems to be updated a lot more. Just sayin, I'm game if CBCS is. ![]() |

@MrWiggalz we're 10% of the population....so likely around 10% of submissions too... Probably not financially viable. Need the physical location and trained staff, then there are tax implications, reporting implications, transfer pricing, IFIRs etc. etc. etc. It can blow up real quick to open operations in another country..for again..likely 10% of your business. Not to say it won't happen but I think the CBCS Canada location would be the first step to see if customers would actually use the service...if usage level at CBCS Canada really take off then there may be a chance to see in country grading/pressing etc. |

@BrashSmurf @RidingBeavers @GAC - I think that page refers to standard turnaround times and the tab at the top of the homepage has the accurate times and while we holder is not listed there I think you can probably safely assume that reholder is 2 to 3 times the normal turnaround time at this point

I'm also in 'ShiptoCanada' mode. Quick question though? Are you guys who are also in ShiptoCanada able to see your grades or not on the site? I can't and I find it odd that they haven't posted it under my comics. It has been 3 years since I last submitted and I remember seeing the grades when shipped out (for pickup in the US at the time). Have they changed that?

You won’t see the grades unfortunately but you can call customer service and they can give it to you, to see the grades your order needs to be completed

That's in Canadian funds correct? Much more reasonable than CGC. Been waiting to see if the current lockdown situation will get better any time soon, but it doesn't look like it. Should we be sending books to the Oakville office right now and are there even people there? I don't want my books to be sitting in limbo. What should Canadians do? |
