you know, i guess after reading this post I am now a little frustrated at seeing multiple posts of people who have dropped off items in late Jan, early feb. and even march who have gotten either their books back already or have some status update on where their books are at.

makes me again really wonder about my question as to what is the criteria for processing books that I asked almost a month ago in the main forums and got crickets from CBCS.

I guess if the impetus goes to those that can afford to process 200+ books, should I just expect my stuff to take 8 months or more if i can only afford 10 or 20?

if being a "Super Presser" bumps me to the front of the line should I just start tapping local friends to bulk ship to CBCS in hopes of a faster turn around time?

at this point the dashboard seems like a pretty useless feature if there isn't someone honestly updating it on a timely basis. Which is sad as that was my primary reason for sending my books to CBCS.

CBCS sucks as far as communication goes. I don't know if I'd be comfortable sending them books again. 🤷🏾‍♂️. And I'm waiting on 5 to come back.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@bluemeenie - I haven’t had and still don’t get the sense that CBCS prioritizes large submissions over the 2 book, 10 book, etc submission. Now, if someone pays a higher price for fast pass service, sure. And there have been times where they have run a guaranteed turnaround time special, and maybe those get bumped ahead a little, but i can say from experience that huge submissions don’t get bumped to the front of the line.

As far as the dashboard is concerned, yes, it has been a little hit or miss with updates, but i suspect that bodes to a manpower thing that is susceptible to unfavorable outside events like pandemics, freezes, tornados, etc, along with massive spikes in submissions. All of which cbcs has experienced in the last several months and beyond. I have seen that therm other guys are taking a month just to acknowledge receipt.

CBCS does a great job of pressing, grades accurately, and has an amazing encasement. As long as they focus first on those things, I don’t doubt that the customer service things will eventually catch up.

My only argument to this would be: is CBCS a small business with a small amount of employees? Or are they a big business who should be taken seriously. I love their end product, but when you read this post and all of the issues, then you realize there is a BIG problem. Customer service "eventually" catching up is a terrible thing, especially when you are sending your valuables and spending hundreds of dollars on them.

I've sent to CBCS twice and CGC 3 times. There's never been an issue with CGC communication for me. At least when you call they know where your books are. With CBCS, they never know anything of what is going on, except what you can read for yourself on your dashboard. That's a problem. Basically, you send your books and they are in limbo until you get them back. Honestly, the dashboard almost shouldn't exist until you get your books back.

CGC DOES have its issues, and I think CBCS books look much better. BUT CBCS has TERRIBLE customer service and communication. And in the world of business, that's a huge no-no...

Nov 15th order now in grading....had pressing and being a CBCS Canada order there would have been a delay in the start i.e. Order is Nov 15th but they likely didn't receive and the 'clock' wouldn't have started until mid December.

This order though is 100% PC....no books going for sale, so I am ok with it taking a bit longer.
Should be good...this was the promo to move books out of other companies holders and into CBCS....will be nice to see how good they look when I get them back.....hopefully with grade bumps after a press too!!

@Qillabee - perhaps you are the exception to the lack of customer service that I have received at cgc in the past and to what I have been reading of current cgc customers.

Frankly as a person with a high amount of business owners (large and small). One common thread this past year, difficulty staffing and getting people back to work. I won’t go into the social constructs which are causing that.

Patience is a virtue and needed when sending in comics to either CBCS and cgc. There is no instant gratification with their services.

I'm smart enough to know what business is and how it should be handled.

I'm also smart enough to know that these things take patience. I also know that these things aren't instant gratification.

As I said though, this isn't my first rodeo sending books to places. I understand that you guys love to pick sides, but that's not what I'm saying and it's also not 90% of the complaints on this thread. It's the lack of proper communication and the ability to properly see what the progress is for your product, that you pay money for. And if there's an issue, folks being able to properly ADDRESS what you need, and if they can't, find who or what can help.

That part has nothing to do with this past year, because a business can and will tell you if it is. I personally know this on many facets. If a business is going to act like things are business as usual, consumers will take them up ok that.

Folks with concerns who speak like adults, definitely should be able to voice these issues.

So if I understand correctly, my comics should be graded within 2 days ?

Thanks for your help !

@Jeremysitb as long as you don't have pressing or signature verification or other books (like modern or consumer) on the same order, that's the deal.

Hi guys, they are behind on the intake of new submissions, which is stalling the process to migrate through the process.
I shipped 30 book submission on 3.20.21.
Tracking shows the books were received at Dallas location on 3.24.21.
The submission still says submitted.
I enquired and was told it is probably there in the vault, but has not been scanned as received yet, thus no confirmation email yet.
They obviously have a large quantity of books being submitted and it will require more time to process them.
We have to be patient. That last thing we want to have them do is rush. That only causes mistakes.
So that is ok with me.

Another submission that was received by CBCS on 1.24.21 is still showing processing. Our guy Darryl has confirmed that the books are graded and in slabbing. So they should be shipping out in the next week or two. Making TOT at approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Submission was 29 moderns and 1 expanded. No pressing, no signatures.
Maybe that gives some of you some time frames to help with your submissions.
Happy Collecting

what you and @Qillabee are saying is I guess my biggest issue. I am sure the quality is excellent and I'll be happy once everything is back.

It's the "black hole" nature of the process where I guess I got the impression that there would be lots of visibility on the process. So that is a little disappointing.

with the about of work coming in you would think it is a full time job for someone making minimum wage to just update dashboards to keep people abreast and I would almost guarantee that if that was done and people say their items going through the process they would probably save time and money answering customer service phone calls from people complaining and concerned about what was happening.

I work for a major global company that is known for it's Cust. Service and one of our core strengths is that customers will always know where their order is and what the status is.

when people don't from a website issue then the phones light up across the board.

piece of mind is honestly worth it's wait in gold.

@bluemeenie - first off, are you now or have you ever been a Beatles fan? LOL, your moniker took me back to my childhood and endlessly playing my Yellow Submarine album.

Anyway, there was a hot second this past year whereby CBCS had the dashboard updating regularly (but for Canada submissions). It seemed to get spotty again around the time of the 3rd wave of the pandemic and Texas freeze. Add on to that, I suspect a lot of people are bombarding them with submissions due to the crazy prices, which is probably also why there are numerous reports of cgc taking a month or more to even register as received. Having seen how the dashboard was updating in the 3rd & 4th qtrs, i suspect CBCS will get those status' updated soon.

Cheers!

Thanks for that information Scifinator.

And yes I still have my BETA copy of Yellow Submarine that I made when I was a kid and they showed it on HBO for the first without commercials.

I also just happen to love "The Bluemeenies" which is a SKA Punk band out of Minneapolis that i used to go see every year in Chicago for their Xmas show at "The Metro" on the north side... they were awesome.

so i get twice the satisfaction out of my name

Can't wait for the November order to be home again!!

Detective 369 was CGC 8.5 (I didn't have it pressed at CGC so it get it now!)
Flash 139 was CGC 7.0 (same thing so now it gets a press....think there were other flaws that will stop it bumping though)
JLA 29 was CGC 8.5 (same deal again!! so press should help)
JLA #9 was PGX 7...has a press now but I'll be happy if it stays the same
Showcase 60 was old label CGC 8.5...press should have helped this one!

Was reading through this thread and it looks like a lot of pestering for updates and complaints about communication. CBCS is a grading company, not a communications company. My wife teaches college level Communications and if CBCS were run by her students the price would be a lot higher and product quality would be a lot lower...but communications would probably be amazing for the few customers that they would have. Just be grateful that we can still get a great quality product at a very fair price. Send your books in, wait your turn, quit pestering them for updates. Clearly there's not a ton of resources spent on updating customers...those expenses would just lead to higher prices.
