@Unknown turnaround times that are updated more frequently can be found here:

https://www.cbcscomics.com/estimated-turnaround-times

The times listed under the pricing/grading tiers here are no longer accurate:

TAT for CGC does not include receiving time. Does CBCS?

Ah, yeah, I don't even pay attention to the times listed on the pricing page.

Not sure what you mean by 'receiving time' exactly, but the TAT starts when CBCS checks in your order. So it isn't when FedEx/whoever delivers it, it's when you get an email.

TAT does not include the initial shipping time, nor does it include how long CBCS holds it in their possession before marking it as Received.

It also does not include how long it takes them to decide to ship it back to you or the return shipping duration.

The reason both CBCS and CGC still list these somewhat reasonable sounding TATs is because they don't include the weeks or months of delays at either end where they're not updating the status.

Basically no matter who you go with, be prepared for a very long wait right now. That way if they are closer to being in line with the actual TAT you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I just double checked with Darryl. TAT starts the next business day after the comics physically arrive through the mail (through USPS UPS, FedEx, whatever) at CBCS. When comics are submitted at conventions, it is the Wednesday after the con ends. TAT does NOT start when they are "received" or entered into the computer.

Also, the date on your invoice is the date the invoice was started, not the date received nor the date your TAT starts.

Having said all that, USPS is still having issues that are complicating things. But once the comics arrive, the policy is as I stated above.

As I stated above, this is incorrect for CBCS.

And TAT is just for the time at CBCS, not shipping times. The day they arrive and the day they are shipped out, are not counted.

That's good to know! Kinda makes your wish they would put that date somewhere on your order for you.

I completely disagree based on my still ongoing experience.

Perhaps the policy only applies to US orders during the ongoing pandemic.

In any case, keep the expectation low and you might luck out.

If you shipped direct to Dallas from Canada, and request direct shipping back, the way I described SHOULD be the way it works. But if you went through CBCS Canada, it could very well be different!!! If you shipped Direct to Dallas and are having problems, feel free to message me here and I'll see if there is anything I can do to help. Sometimes it helps to have a middleman. If you went through CBCS Canada, I doubt I can do anything other than listen. Hope you get satisfaction soon.

FYI,
Books I sent to Oakville Feb 6th...tracking says delivered Feb 9th....official receipt and billing in Dallas today March 4th...so about 3 weeks before the 'real' clock starts and a month from invoice creation....12weeks pressing 8 grading....so 5 months puts us early August then back to Canada?

not sure if the 3 weeks from CBCS Canada to CBCS US is normal..did I catch it right before or just after a shipment and how often are they shipped??

Oh well...at least they are in the pipe line!!

just to be certain...this latest order also included a CBCS VSP book for a press and re-grade....there was nowhere to indicate that is was already VSP...they will of course notice this and change it over from the red label to the new yellow label automatically yes??

@joseabc @vlad @smohcomic

Ship to Canada is the status they stay at until they leave the Oakville location. The September one is a bit too long but there are lots of pieces to the puzzle we don't know.
- how often do they actually "ship to Canada"
- are they held in like a covid quarantine once here?
- how long does it take for the Oakville location to separate the orders and ship them via your choice of carrier
- I realllly can't remember what shutdowns were in effect in Oakville or what was actually operating i.e. December to just recently we were in lockdown - was the Oakville site running? was it at reduced staff? sounds like the CBCS books are something another company is handling while the border is closed (no CBCS staff on site)...did they just take care of their main business and let things slide on the CBCS front?? we'll never know!

I appreciate the offer, but unfortunately it's a Canadian Shipment. The actual time spent once "Received" by CBCS on the website to the "ShiptoCanada" Limbo/Purgatory status, was quite speedy. I've been bookended by unexplained delays because I submitted to the Canadian offices in August. My only complaints have been specifically shipping related and all revolve around the Canadian Office.

Wow. I'm getting very upset at this point and I'm almost at 90 days since the status changed to "ShiptoCanada". You've been waiting until September? That's absolutely brutal. I'm glad they're finally on their way to you!
