Anyone an actual member? or do you all use the free membership?

I'm considering paying the $100 Bronze tier.

Seems like its the only tier that gives you anything.

The other ones are more expensive but the rewards seems to be the same as the Bronze tier.

@jibaro The tiers do scale up; rapid grading for two books is $162 member/$180 not (silver membership is $150) and I assume a free one day costs around $500 on average for whatever CBCS gets on that tier (gold tier is $500, and now that I read the description it's unclear if 2 for 1 means 1 free book or unlimited 2 for 1).

Whenever someone asks, I tell them to get the membership that matches what you're planning on sending. I've been a bronze member because those are the kinds of books I tend to send in. If I had pricier books stocked up, I would get a higher membership.

So I probably have an incredibly stupid question that is going to make it quite obvious this is my first submission... but mine has been sitting in the status of “Processing” now for almost 8 weeks. I’m not exactly sure what that even means. Is it sitting in a corner somewhere waiting to even be opened? Or exactly what? I thought they had the turn around times at least moderately under control at this point, but bloody hell?!?

From what i have learned is that the turnaround time starts when they receive the books. At least that's my understanding. When you go to your dashboard it says processing but if you click on your submission it opens up another spot that lists your books and if they are in grading they will say grading. I could be absolutely off on this since I am new as well and have my 2nd and 3rd submission there in grading finally lol 😆

@WndrWmn74 check the CBCS 101 thread with the star toward the top of the forum list. Like @Darthmauler said, turnaround depends on 'received' time, not 'the package was delivered' time, and the website doesn't always update with the actual status of your books. If you open your invoice it should have the current status although honestly I've seen it be off a bit as well. It also depends on what tier book you're having graded and if you have anything that adds time like pressing or signature verification.

All of my books are modern, none required anything extra besides grading, so again, just confused...but I will look into the advice, and thank you greatly!

It has officially been 6 weeks since my two orders were listed as "received". That was following a 7 week wait while they were in limbo after being shipped to the Canadian address.

My one order, which was submitted under the "Vintage2020" promotion went from received all the way to "ShiptoCanada" very quickly. I want to say within a week, but definitely within two, no question. Since then it has sat in the same status and I have not received any further update via email nor any actual shipping confirmation.

My other order, which was a basic modern grading of 5 books, moved to received as mentioned above and has sat at the same status for the past 6 weeks without any change.

While I understand things are pretty crazy right now with the pandemic, I'm yet again disappointed that books I was mostly planning on selling to help pay the bills are now over double the high end of the expected turn around time in total.

I'm going to make the suggestion that CBCS might want to change the estimated turn around times on their website. I know they're not guarantees, but let's try to line them up a little better with the current reality maybe?

Hopefully my May order is not to far behind it.

Whooo hooo!!! thanks customer support!

Looks like my guess on timing is a week or two off but my books apparently just hit the doc in Oakville. Sounds like once they ship from there I'll be able to view my photos and grades!
I figured I had another week to go but ..maybe 2 weeks??

It will depend how quickly they unpack and ship out from the Oakville location.

So here’s my frustration...my order was received at about the same time ~9/28. However, mine is STILL languishing in processing status without having moved an inch in the past (almost) 8 fracking weeks!

I too have been waiting for months without any movement, just sitting for months as processing. I will go back to CGC, at least they seem a bit more organized and there turn around times are much better. At least that’s what my past experiences have been. Cbcs need to change there wait time on there site.

It has been a rough year so far for everyone even cbcs. Remember they we shut down for a few months and they are trying to get back on track. Cgc is just as slow right now. Even if they worked from home they still had to wait until the buildings were open to encapsulate orders. Im just throwing that out there lol 🤪

Could they not at least set reasonable expectations so as not to leave everyone guessing (and banging our heads against the wall) as to when things will get done? I bought a silver membership and am now seriously regretting it.

I agree, Texas shut own all business for two months and then only let them open in a limited way.

@Cpapa If you like the Newton ring on your comics, then you have every right to go back to CGC.

But I would give CBCS the benefit of doubt and stick with them. They are catching up with their back log, as I can attest to.

@WndrWmn74 Exactly.

I have no problem with a company experiencing delays due to something as unavoidable as a global pandemic. Completely understandable.

Setting expectations however, is something that's extremely simple to do. Update your website with a bulletin, adjust your turn around times to be in line with reality, reach out to customers.

Instead they lay everything on one Customer Service Rep in terms of fielding questions and complaints and even then they wait for the customers to come to them with questions.

Get ahead of it. Be upfront with the reality of the situation. It's been 14 weeks now since my books were delivered to the Canadian location and despite seeing partial progress I am completely in the dark as to when I might actually see them returned to me.

I like CBCS. I prefer their encapsulation to CGC. I wish the value of their graded books was directly in line with CGC. I want to support them more, but I hate having zero idea of what to expect in terms of a timeline.

I agree with having something pop up on thier home page about delays due to the ongoing pandemic. Only thing i have seen is that they state all turnaround times are estimates. They are backed up and I'm sure not everyone physically felt safe going back into the building. Therefore cbcs is probably understaffed at the moment.

I know we are all anxious to get our books back believe me I'm still waiting on my second 10 book submission to return. All I know is cbcs is my only go to graders I'm sticking with them through it all. I can't speak for everyone else but for me I love the new cases and I'm glad I signed up after they upgraded them lol 😆

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@Cpapa CGC has current turnaround times of 30 working days for modern, 80 days for value, and 75 days for economy. So if you submit only 1975 or newer comics under $200 it's six weeks after they are received. If you send in comics in different tiers they don't combine shipping. Most of my submissions are mixed bags of modern, pre 1975, low to high value, so I'll stick with CBCS.

Did you submit for pressing as well?

CBCS definitely needs to be more on top of posting TATs on the website, but the forum gets fairly regular updates. Anything that's just grading is at posted times; moderns are 6 weeks. Signature verification is the usual week or two. The only thing that I've heard is behind is pressing.
